Rosmarinic acid (RA) is a natural active compound widely found in many plants belonging to the family of , , and so on, which has various important bioactivities, including being anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, etc. Herein, novel hydrophilic magnetic molecularly imprinted polymers (HMMIPs) with a regular core-shell structure were successfully developed using RA as a template molecule, acrylamide (AM) as a functional monomer, N-N 'methylenebisacrylamide (MBA) as a cross-linking agent, and water as the porogen. After a series of characterization and adsorption performance analyses, it was found that HMMIPs are hydrophilic with an adsorption capacity of 8.

Drug repurposing can serve an important role in rapidly discovering medicament options for emerging microbial pandemics. In this study, a pragmatic approach is demonstrated for screening and testing drug combinations as potential broad-spectrum therapies against SARS-CoV-2 and other betacoronaviruses. Rapid cell-based phenotypic small molecule screens were executed using related common-cold-causing HCoV-OC43 betacoronavirus to identify replication inhibitors from a library of drugs approved by regulatory agencies for other indications.

Article Synopsis
  • The development of drug-target binding affinity (DTA) prediction is evolving from traditional lab methods to machine learning, enhancing drug discovery by saving time and resources.
  • A new method called MTAF-DTA improves DTA prediction by using an attention mechanism to assess the importance of different drug features and simulating drug-target interactions through a Spiral-Attention Block.
  • MTAF-DTA outperforms existing methods, demonstrating improved predictive accuracy in experiments, suggesting its potential for practical applications in drug discovery and treatment.

A novel iridium-catalyzed [3 + 2] annulation of naphthylamines and α-diazocarbonyl compounds was developed for the rapid assembly of densely functionalized indoles. This new catalytic process represents the first example of a cascade intramolecular nucleophilic cyclization by the N-H insertion of amines. Various naphthylamines and α-diazocarbonyl compounds could be obtained in high yields with excellent functional group tolerance.
