A modest number of clinics in Oregon and Washington provide MMT maintenance treatment (MMT) services. More than 10,000 clients in each state were followed for 3 years after an initial admission for opiate use between 1993 and 2000. Medicaid clients in both states had far greater access to MMT than their non-Medicaid counterparts, controlling for differences in client characteristics using propensity scores. Months in MMT were associated with much lower arrest rates than time not in treatment, but unexpectedly this was only true for clients participating in MMT for many months. Despite differences in the treatment systems for opiate addiction in these two states observed in previous studies, the current findings generalized across both states.

Osteoarthritis (OA), a prevalent joint disorder, can lead to disability, with no effective treatment available. Interleukin-1 (IL-1) plays a crucial role in the progression of OA, and its receptor antagonist (IL-1Ra), a natural IL-1 inhibitor, represents a promising therapeutic target by obstructing the IL-1 signaling pathway. This study delivered IL-1Ra via adeno-associated virus (AAV), a gene therapy vector enabling long-term protein expression, to treat knee osteoarthritis (KOA) in animal models.

Introduction: The risk of kidney fibrosis is significantly elevated in individuals with diabetes, chronic nephritis, trauma, and other underlying conditions. Concurrently, human umbilical cord blood-derived mesenchymal stem cells (hUCB-MSCs) and their extracellular vesicles (MSC-Exos) have gained prominence in regenerative medicine. In light of these observations, we are undertaking a meta-analysis to elucidate the influence of hUCB-MSCs and MSC-Exos on kidney fibrosis.

The montmorillonite@iron oxide@silver (MMT@FeO@Ag) nanocomposite, which is recyclable and exhibits high catalytic activity, was evaluated for the degradation of methyl yellow (MY), a carcinogenic azo dye. For this purpose, MMT@FeO was first synthesized via the coprecipitation method and then Ag was doped to MMT@FeO via the chemical reduction method. MMT, MMT@FeO, and MMT@FeO@Ag were characterized by various techniques including scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, vibrating sample magnetometer, and thermal gravimetric analysis.

Natural biopolymer-based liquid mulching films (LMF) have received widespread attention, whereas the fragile structure and limited functionality have severely restricted their application. Herein, polydopamine-coated montmorillonite micro/nanoparticles enhanced pectin-based sprayable multifunctional liquid mulching films (P-MMT@PDA LMF) were prepared. Dopamine has abundant active sites, and its self-polymerization onto the surface of MMT improves the compatibility of MMT with pectin chains, facilitates the homogeneous dispersion of MMT@PDA in pectin polymers, and makes them more tightly entangled through hydrogen bonding.

YAP promotes fibrosis by regulating macrophage to myofibroblast transdifferentiation and M2 polarization in chronic pancreatitis.

Division of Pancreatic Surgery, Department of General Surgery, West China Hospital, Sichuan University, Chengdu, Sichuan CN 610041, China. Electronic address:

Chronic pancreatitis (CP) is a clinical entity characterized by progressive inflammation and irreversible fibrosis of the pancreas, which ultimately leads to exocrine and/or endocrine insufficiency as well as an increased risk of pancreatic cancer. Currently, there are no specific or effective approved therapies for CP. Herein, we show that macrophage to myofibroblast transdifferentiation (MMT) and M2 macrophage polarization are associated with both human CP and CP experimental mouse models.
