The effect of prolonged exposure of rats to sub-lethal dose of acetaminophen.

In this report, we studied the effect of sub-lethal doses (20mg, 30mg, 100mg, 200mg and 300mg/Kg body weight) and duration of acetaminophen given intraperitoneally (i.p) to male albino rats; on the level of pc methaemoglobin and some liver function tests: Alkaline phosphatase, free and conjugated bilirubin. The study showed that the increase in pc methaemoglobin, free and conjugated bilirubin in rats treated with acetaminophen are significantly (P less than 0.05) greater than those for the control rats and that the measured parameters increase with acetaminophen concentrations. The results also show that the free bilirubin is probably displaced from plasma albumin.

The development of aggregation-induced emission (AIE) luminophores is a fascinating and promising topic in electrochemiluminescence (ECL) bioanalysis. Herein, the AIE-active but water-insoluble [Ir(bt)₂(acac)] (bt = 2-phenylbenzothiazole, acac = acetylacetonate) was encapsulated within poly(styrene-maleic anhydride) (PSMA) using a simple nanoprecipitation method. This encapsulation strategy could effectively limit the free motion of Ir(bt)₂(acac) and trigger the aggregation-induced electrochemiluminescence (AIECL) effect.

A method to quantitate the stabilization of Mitochondria-Associated endoplasmic reticulum Membranes (MAMs) in a 3-dimensional (3D) neural model of Alzheimer's disease (AD) is presented here. To begin, fresh human neuro progenitor ReN cells expressing β-amyloid precursor protein (APP) containing familial Alzheimer's disease (FAD) or naïve ReN cells are grown in thin (1:100) Matrigel-coated tissue culture plates. After the cells reach confluency, these are electroporated with expression plasmids encoding red fluorescence protein (RFP)-conjugated mitochondria-binding sequence of AKAP1(34-63) (Mito-RFP) that detects mitochondria or constitutive MAM stabilizers MAM 1X or MAM 9X that stabilize tight (6 nm ± 1 nm gap width) or loose (24 nm ± 3 nm gap width) MAMs, respectively.
