3H-Spiroperidol association and dissociation rate constants were determined in rat striatal homogenates in the presence of known concentrations of unlabelled haloperidol. The rate of 3H-spiroperidol association was progressively decreased in the presence of increasing concentrations of haloperidol and no changes were seen in 3H-spiroperidol dissociation rate constants. Measuring changes in 3H-spiroperidol association rate constants permitted detection of 0.1 pmol/ml unlabelled haloperidol in assay homogenates. Then, male Sprague-Dawley rats received daily injections of haloperidol (1.5 mg/kg) for 1-21 days. Twenty-four hours after the last injection, 3H-spiroperidol kinetic rate constants and Kd values were measured and found to be unchanged in all treatment groups. These findings suggest that, under these conditions of drug withdrawal and tissue preparation, which are widely employed in studies of chronic neuroleptic administration, residual haloperidol does not interfere with the estimation of 3H-spiroperidol binding parameters.

Diffusive evaporation dynamics in polymer solutions is ubiquitous.

Recent theory and experiments have shown how the buildup of a high-concentration polymer layer at a one-dimensional solvent-air interface can lead to an evaporation rate that scales with time as and that is insensitive to the ambient humidity. Using phase field modelling we show that this scaling law constitutes a naturally emerging robust regime, diffusion-limited evaporation (DLE). This regime dominates the dynamical state diagram of the system, which also contains regions of constant and arrested evaporation, confirming and extending understanding of recent experimental observations and theoretical predictions.

Deep eutectic solvents (DESs) have attracted significant attention in recent years due to its environment friendly characteristics and its participation in the multi-heteroatom doping of carbon quantum dots (CQDs). In this work, we present a simple, fast, and environment-friendly microwave synthesis approach for the synthesis of DES-assisted nitrogen and chloride co-doped CQDs (N,Cl-CQDs) using a choline chloride-urea based DES. A biomass-based precursor, i.

A soda lime glass substrate is used for fabricating CuZnSnS (CZTS) thin films using copper (II) sulfide (CuS), zinc sulfide (ZnS), and tin sulfide (SnS) targets using an advanced co-sputtering deposition process. Following that, the films are annealed at 470 °C without sulfur (S). An algorithm based on the deposition rate of the previously specified targets set the co-sputtering condition, which maintains a deposition pressure of 5, 10, 15, and 20 mTorr.

Metasurface holograms offer advantages, such as a wide viewing angle, compact size, and high resolution. However, projecting a full-color movie using a single hologram without polarization dependence has remained challenging. Here, we report a full-color dielectric metasurface holographic movie with a resolution of 512 × 512.

Optical transceivers serve as the backbone of high-speed data transmission over optical fiber in communication systems and there is a constant challenge to keep cost and power consumption low while increasing data capacities. However, dispersion impairments introduced by the transmission of data over optical fiber, limit the baud rates and fiber reach. In this paper, we demonstrate a low loss, transmission-based grating device to compensate for dispersion up to 20 km by the concatenation of gratings where the operation occurs outside of the stopband in the region where transmissivity is high, and the normal dispersion magnitude is large.
