Background: Since dermal matrices (DMs) were first described in surgery, they have become an integral part of the reconstructive ladder, providing plastic surgeons with new approaches to wound reconstruction. While they have been used in reconstruction of a wide range of wounds, there has been limited or no literature on their effects when used in conjunction with fully absorbable antibiotic beads. Therefore, the aim of this study was to analyze the effects of using Matriderm dermal matrix concurrently with Stimulan absorbable antibiotic beads on wound healing and readiness for skin grafting.

Ultrasound shear wave elastography (SWE) noninvasively measures the stiffness of tissue by producing and measuring tissue deformation. Scar formation, a crucial aspect of wound healing, can lead to functional and aesthetic complications when pathological. While SWE has shown promise in dermatological evaluations, its role in surgical scar assessment remains underestimated.

The management of complex and severe lower-extremity injuries is challenging for the orthopedic surgeon. When the primary or secondary closure of the defect is not feasible, complex procedures with graft (split-thickness or full-thickness) or flap (pedicled or free) are required. These procedures are performed by specialized plastic surgeons and are at high risk for adverse effects, even high morbidity among both the donor and acceptor sites.

Flaps are the workhorse reconstructive options for management of defects for oral malignancy. Superficial defects are traditionally managed with skin grafting or healing by secondary intention, each of which have its own problems. We would like to share our experience of use of dermal template for superficial intra oral defects related to oral malignancy.

Introduction: Reconstruction of complex injuries of the extremities with full-thickness wounds is a challenging but important task. If primary closure is not feasible, more complex procedures are required, such as split-thickness skin graft or flap surgery. Recently, several studies have shown good results when combined with negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) and artificial dermal replacement therapy after extensive surgical debridement and NPWT administration for severe complex wounds accompanied by tendon or bone exposure.
