Background: The development of a medical device requires strict adherence to regulatory processes. Prehabilitation in this context is a new area in surgery that trains, coaches, and advises patients in mental well-being, nutrition, and physical activity. As staff is permanently drained from clinical care, remote and digital solutions with real-time assessments of data, including patient-related outcome reporting, may simplify preparation before major surgeries.

Article Synopsis
  • The relationship between thermodynamics and computation has fascinated scientists since the 19th century, but its significance has grown due to the rising energy costs of digital devices.
  • Real-world computers, including biological ones like brains, operate under various physical constraints, which impact their thermodynamic dynamics and efficiency.
  • The emerging field of stochastic thermodynamics offers new analytical techniques to explore how these constraints affect the fundamental thermodynamic properties of systems performing computation.

A Simplified Daily Fit Model to Reduce Costs and Nutrient Intake in Growing-Finishing Pigs.

Animals (Basel)

October 2024

Graduate Program in Animal Science, Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, Seropédica 23890-000, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Precision feeding is an excellent alternative to conventional phase feeding systems for growing-finishing pigs, especially with increasing feeding costs and environmental sustainability concerns. However, precision feeding strategies sometimes require advanced technologies such as electronic devices and the modernization of pig facilities. In addition to hardware implementation, precision feeding is frequently related to mathematical difficulties due to a lack of professionals trained in decision making.

Individualized optimal strategy in team pursuit for track cycling.

Sci Rep

October 2024

LadHyX, UMR 7646 du CNRS, Ecole polytechnique, 91120, Palaiseau, France.

In track cycling, performance in the team pursuit depends on the mechanical and physiological abilities of each member of the team, but also on the choice of racing strategy. Athletes must cover the 4000 m of the race, sharing the effort between them in successive relays. This raises the question of the optimum strategy.

Pre-licensure nursing students' experiences of psychological safety: A longitudinal qualitative study.

Nurse Educ Today

January 2025

College of Nursing, Brigham Young University, 563 KMBL, Provo, UT 84602, United States of America. Electronic address:

Background: Previous studies have explored the concept of psychological safety among pre-licensure nursing students; however, the literature is notably sparse on personal descriptions of pre-licensure nursing students' experiences of psychological safety in clinical settings. Individual descriptions of psychological safety will provide added insight and understanding about the elements that shape psychological safety in pre-licensure nursing students.

Aim: This research aimed to explore pre-licensure nursing students' experiences of psychological safety during clinical rotations and how these experiences change over time.
