Caring for hospitalized infants.

Infancy is a time of rapid physical growth and maturation of body systems. Infants have limitations in physiological functioning and are very dependent on adult knowledge and care. Therefore, when infants are hospitalized, nursing interventions must be adapted to safely and adequately meet their unique needs. This article explains the nature of infant growth and development and emphasizes those aspects that require special nursing considerations.
