Purpose Of Review: The majority of men treated for localized prostate cancer are cured of their disease. As a result, it is important to discuss long-term quality of life (QoL) expectations when counseling patients regarding treatment options. The varying QoL outcomes for radical prostatectomy, external beam radiotherapy, brachytherapy, and cryotherapy will be reviewed.

Recent Findings: Robotic and radical prostatectomy has similar outcomes with significant initial worsening of urinary continence and sexual function. External beam radiation has less impact on continence and sexual function but noteworthy bowel toxicity. Brachytherapy results in the most irritative urinary symptoms, with decreased sexual and bowel QoL as well. Cryotherapy greatly reduces sexual function.

Summary: Every patient has unique pretreatment variables, priorities, and preferences. It is crucial to fully explain the range of oncologic and QoL implications when counseling patients regarding treatment for localized prostate cancer.

Six-transmembrane epithelial antigen of prostate 3 (STEAP3), a member of the iron regulation protein family, is characterized by a high recurrence rate and a short survival time. Nevertheless, studies investigating the role of STEAP3 in glioblastoma (GB) are scarce. In this study, the prognostic value of STEAP3 was evaluated utilizing mRNA expression profiles from Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) and The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) databases as the validation and training cohorts, respectively.

Prostate cancer (PCa) outcomes vary significantly across risk groups. In early-stage localized PCa, the functional outcomes following radical prostatectomy (RP) can be severe, prompting increased interest in focal therapy, particularly High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU). This study is to summarize the current clinical trials of HIFU on PCa.

MRI-guided focal laser ablation (MRI-FLA) is an emerging minimally invasive technique for treating localized prostate tumors, aiming to provide effective cancer control while minimizing side effects. This meta-analysis systematically evaluates the clinical outcomes, technical efficacy, and complication rates associated with MRI-FLA to better understand its therapeutic potential and safety profile in prostate cancer management. In July 2024, PubMed (MEDLINE) was searched for eligible trials using the PRISMA guidelines.

The etiology of diffuse gingival enlargement is multifactorial, and the definitive diagnosis may be challenging. To highlight the nuances of the differential diagnosis, we present two cases of generalized gingival overgrowth and discuss the diagnostic dilemmas. In the first case, an 82-year-old male with a medical history of hypertension and prostatitis had a chief complaint of symptomatic oral lesions of a 20-day duration, accompanied by fever and loss of appetite.

As a heterogeneous disease, prostate cancer (PCa) exhibits diverse clinical and biological features, which pose significant challenges for early diagnosis and treatment. Metabolomics offers promising new approaches for early diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of PCa. However, metabolomics data are characterized by high dimensionality, noise, variability, and small sample sizes, presenting substantial challenges for classification.
