We report on a viral hepatitis serosurvey done on 381 nursing students in Bangkok; 360 (94%) were female. The mean age was 20 (+/-3.6) years (range 16-41 years); 143, 92, 86 and 59 students came from Thailand's Central, North, Northeast and South provinces, respectively. The overall prevalence of hepatitis A, B, C and E antibody in the students was 8.9%, 10.8%, 0.5% and 11.5%, respectively. The highest seroprevalence to hepatitis A was observed in cadets from the southern region of Thailand. Seroprevalence rates to hepatitis A and B were less than in other reported studies in Thailand.

Charge detection mass spectrometry (CD-MS) is an emerging single-particle technique where both the / and charge are measured individually to determine each ion's mass. It is particularly well-suited for analyzing high mass and heterogeneous samples. With conventional MS, the loss of charge state resolution with high mass samples has hindered the direct coupling of MS to separation techniques like size exclusion chromatography (SEC) and forced the use of lower resolution detectors.

Background: Hepatitis C virus (HCV) has emerged as a sexually transmitted infection in gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men (GBM). We estimated the seroprevalence and incidence of HCV infection and examined patterns of HCV testing among GBM using human immunodeficiency virus preexposure prophylaxis (PrEP) in Ontario, Canada.

Methods: We analyzed data from the Ontario PrEP Cohort Study (ON-PrEP), a prospective cohort of PrEP users from 10 Ontario clinics.

Timing of post-vaccination tests in infants born to mothers with chronic hepatitis B virus infection.

Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, Department of Pediatrics, Selcuk University Faculty of Medicine, Konya 42130, Türkiye.

Immunoprophylaxis is routinely recommended for infants born to mothers with hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection within the first 12-24 hours. Detection of hepatitis B surface antibody (HBsAb) resulting from hepatitis B immunoglobulin administered at birth may be perceived as a real vaccine response. This makes it difficult to detect HBV infection.

Background: Liver function of chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients is essentially normal after treatment with antiviral drugs. In rare cases, persistently abnormally elevated α-fetoprotein (AFP) is seen in CHB patients following long-term antiviral treatment. However, in the absence of imaging evidence of liver cancer, a reasonable explanation for this phenomenon is still lacking.
