We propose and experimentally demonstrate a novel method for tunable dispersion slope compensation. We use two uniform fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs), a spatially designed S-bending stage and 4-port circulator. Two FBGs are mounted on each surface of a metal plate along the calculated quadratic curve. The dispersion slope (DS) can be tuned by adjusting a nonlinear strain along two uniform FBGs without changing second order dispersion as well as the central wavelength. In the experiment, a DS tuning range from -13.9 to -54.8 ps/nm(2) is achieved with the bandwidth of larger than 2.0 nm.

Sediments are key reservoirs for rare bacterial biospheres that provide broad ecological services and resilience in riverine ecosystems. Compared with planktons, there is a lack of knowledge regarding the ecological differences between abundant and rare taxa in benthic bacteria along a large river. Here, we offer comprehensive insights into the spatiotemporal distributions, co-occurrence networks, and assembly processes of three divided categories namely always rare taxa (ART), conditionally rare taxa (CRT), and conditionally rare and abundant taxa (CRAT) in sediments covering a distance of 4,300 km in the Yangtze River.

Background And Objective: In silico human models are being used more and more to predict the potential proarrhythmic risk of compounds. It has been shown that incorporation of the dynamics of drug-hERG channel interactions can have an important impact on the action potential duration (APD) at normal heart rates. Our aim is to investigate the relevance of drug dynamics on other important biomarkers of proarrhythmic risk.

Integrating conductive supports and modulating electronic structures are widely recognized as effective strategies for improving the catalytic performance of transition metal sulfides. This study demonstrates the simultaneous integration of CoS with two-dimensional TiCT-MXene and the introduction of sulfur vacancies (S) in CoS through a straightforward sintering process followed by plasma treatment, culminating in the formation of the CoS/TiCT composite. Characterization results demonstrate that the TiCT support significantly improves electrical conductivity and promotes the uniform dispersion of CoS nanoparticles.

Wildland fire-atmosphere interaction generates complex turbulence patterns, organized across multiple scales, which inform fire-spread behaviour, firebrand transport, and smoke dispersion. Here, we utilize wavelet-based techniques to explore the characteristic temporal scales associated with coherent patterns in the measured temperature and the turbulent fluxes during a prescribed wind-driven (heading) surface fire beneath a forest canopy. We use temperature and velocity measurements from tower-mounted sonic anemometers at multiple heights.

The hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) efficiency is highly dependent on the electrocatalysts microstructure and the macrostructure of the electrodes. Herein, the graphene aerogel microspheres loaded with well-dispersed ultrafine Ni/Co nanoparticles catalyst is prepared through electro-spraying, in-situ crosslinking, freeze-drying, and pyrolysis, and then is utilized to print the HER electrode via direct ink writing (DIW). The obtained graphene-based aerogel microspheres possess peculiar cabbage-like mesoporous structures which allow ready access of reaction species to active sites, optimal mass transfer, and proton diffusion within the microspheres.
