Objective: Recently, a new sonic power toothbrush has been marketed. The purpose of this study was to compare the plaque removal efficacy of a control rotation-oscillation power toothbrush (Oral-B Triumph) to this new sonic-powered toothbrush (Sonicare FlexCare) following a single brushing.
Methods: This study was a randomized, controlled, examiner-blind, two-treatment, four-period crossover design, which examined plaque removal with the two toothbrushes following replicate single uses in 48 subjects. Plaque was scored before and after brushing using the Turesky Modification of the Quigley-Hein Plaque Index (TMQHPI).
Results: Baseline plaque scores were 2.87 for the sonic toothbrush and 2.85 for the rotation-oscillation toothbrush treatment groups. With respect to all surfaces examined, the sonic toothbrush delivered an adjusted (via Analysis of Covariance) mean difference between baseline and post-brushing plaque scores of 0.95, while the rotation-oscillation toothbrush delivered an adjusted mean difference of 1.06. The difference between treatment groups was statistically significant (p = 0.003).
Conclusion: The rotation-oscillation toothbrush delivered superior plaque removal by reducing plaque scores, on average, 12.1% more than the new sonic toothbrush.

Background: Amidst numerous recent advancements in toothpaste formulations and active ingredients, some clinicians may believe all toothpastes are similar despite differences in their active ingredients and corresponding clinical application.
Aim: This umbrella review aims to provide clinicians with an overview of toothpaste ingredients and evidence of efficacy for a variety of oral conditions, including gum health issues, caries, dentine hypersensitivity, tooth surface loss, oral malodour and tooth whitening (staining).
Methods: The focused question for the review was 'What is the efficacy of common toothpaste active ingredients in preventing or treating oral conditions including gum health issues, caries, dentine hypersensitivity, tooth surface loss, oral malodour and tooth whitening (stain removal)?'.

Introduction: We report biomarker treatment effects in the GRADUATE I and II phase 3 studies of gantenerumab in early Alzheimer's disease (AD).
Methods: Amyloid and tau positron emission tomography (PET), volumetric magnetic resonance imaging (vMRI), cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), and plasma biomarkers used to assess gantenerumab treatment related changes on neuropathology, neurodegeneration, and neuroinflammation over 116 weeks.
Results: Gantenerumab reduced amyloid PET load, CSF biomarkers of amyloid beta (Aβ)40, total tau (t-tau), phosphorylated tau 181 (p-tau181), neurogranin, S100 calcium-binding protein B (S100B), neurofilament light (NfL), alpha-synuclein (α-syn), neuronal pentraxin-2 (NPTX2), and plasma biomarkers of t-tau, p-tau181, p-tau217, and glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) while increasing plasma Aβ40, Aβ42.

Objective: Peri-implant diseases (peri-implant mucositis and peri-implantitis) are inflammatory conditions that affect the peri-implant tissues and are induced by microbial biofilms (dental plaque) formed around the implant. Removal of biofilm is the fundamental step in managing peri-implant diseases. Interdental cleaning aids such as interdental brush, unitufted brush, or oral irrigation along with regular toothbrushing are recommended for effective plaque control around implants.

Among individuals who wear removable dentures, there is a significant likelihood, reaching up to 70 %, of experiencing a condition known as denture-induced stomatitis. To address this issue, a commonly used method involves soaking dentures in denture cleansers to eliminate microorganisms. However, the prolonged use of this cleaning method has resulted in the emergence of drug resistance.
