Many eye-tracker systems display the point of central gaze fixation on video images of the viewed environment. We describe here a method for determining the visual angles of objects located in the periphery. Such data are needed to study the potential contributions of peripheral vision during cognitive and motor tasks.

Ratiometric fluorescent probe and smartphone-based visual recognition for HO and organophosphorus pesticide based on Ce/Ce cascade enzyme reaction.

Food Chem

December 2024

Laboratory of Functional Polymers, School of Materials Science and Engineering, Linyi University, Linyi 276005, China. Electronic address:

Organicphosphorus is a ubiquitous pesticide that has potential hazards to human health and environmental well-being. Therefore, the precise identification of residues of organophosphorus pesticides (OPs) emerges as an urgent necessity. A ratiometric fluorescent sensor for the detection of OPs by leveraging the catalytic activities of Ce and Ce on the two fluorescent substrates 4-Methylumbelliferyl phosphate (4-MUP) and o-phenylenediamine (OPD) correspondingly was designed.

Department of Nutrition and Food Hygiene, School of Public Health, Tianjin Medical University, 300070 Tianjin, People's Republic of China; Tianjin Key Laboratory of Environment, Nutrition and Public Health, Center for International Collaborative Research on Environment, Nutrition and Public Health, Tianjin Medical University, Tianjin, People's Republic of China. Electronic address:

A novel biomimetic molecular imprinted polymer chip with fluorescence (FL) and structural (STR) states, inspired by color patterns of chameleon skin, is fabricated for detecting diethylstilbestrol (DES). The chip features a regularly structured, non-closed-packed (NCP) colloidal photonic crystal (CPC) lattice made monodisperse MIP spheres containing fluorescence poly ionic liquid (FPIL) pigments. The FL color originates from FPIL pigments and is further enhanced by the Purcell effect, while the STR color results from the periodic arrangement of the NCP CPC structure.

Purpose: High-frequency ultrasound (HFUS) of muscle and nerve has the potential to be a reliable, responsive, and informative biomarker of disease progression for individuals with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). High-frequency ultrasound is not able to visualize median nerve fascicles to the same extent as ultra-high-frequency ultrasound (UHFUS). Evaluating the number and size of fascicles within a nerve may facilitate a better understanding of nerve diseases.

Increasing Reachability in Robotic Ultrasound Through Base Placement and Tool Design.

Int J Med Robot

February 2025

Insitute for Robotics and Kognitive Systems, University of Luebeck, Luebeck, Germany.

Background: Robotic ultrasound visualises internal organs in real-time for various medical applications without the harm of X-rays. The ultrasound probe is attached to the robot's end effector using custom-developed probe holders. This paper analyzes the impact of different probe holder geometries on the robot's base placement and reachability.

Spatial stable isotope tracing metabolic imaging is a cutting-edge technique designed to investigate tissue-specific metabolic functions and heterogeneity. Traditional matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization-mass spectrometry imaging (MALDI-MSI) techniques often struggle with low coverage of low-molecular-weight (LMW) metabolites, which are often crucial for spatial metabolic studies. To address this, we developed a high-coverage spatial isotope tracing metabolic method that incorporates optimized matrix selection, sample preparation protocols, and enhanced post-ionization (MALDI2) techniques.
