Purpose: To compare the efficacy of different types of solutions (Belzer or Euro-Collins) for the preservation of rat pancreas during cold ischemia.
Methods: Thirty Wistar rats were divided into three groups according to the perfusion or storage solution: Group E (perfusion and storage in Euro-Collins solution); Group B (perfusion and storage in Belzer solution) and Group BE (Perfusion in Belzer solution and storage in Euro-Collins solution). After perfusion, the pancreas was excised and stored at 4˚C for 18 hours.
Dental avulsion is the most severe type of traumatic tooth injuries because it causes damage to several structures and results in the complete displacement of the tooth from its socket in the alveolar bone. The ideal situation is to replant an exarticulated tooth immediately after avulsion because the extraoral time is a determinant factor for treatment success and for a good prognosis. However, it is not always possible.

Demand for human primary hepatocytes is increasing, particularly for clinical trials of hepatocyte transplantation. However, due to the severe shortage of organ transplant donors, the source of cells for these endeavors is restricted to untransplantable livers, such as those from non-heart-beating donors and surgically resected liver tissues. To improve cell recovery from such sources after warm ischemia, we evaluated the efficacy of applying perfusion solutions, focusing on improvement of hepatocyte recovery.

Objective: We developed a novel luciferase-based viability assay for assessing the viability of hearts preserved in different solutions. We examined whether this system could predict heart damage and survival after transplantation in rats.
Design: By our novel system, preserved heart viability evaluation and transplanted heart-graft functional research study.

Background: Despite improved surgical techniques and medical management, primary graft dysfunction (PGD) remains a major cause of early morbidity and mortality after lung transplantation. Different types of lung preservation solutions have been developed and applied to clinical use; however, the relative clinical efficacy of these solutions to prevent PGD remains controversial. This study aimed to investigate the effect of the three solutions most commonly used (Perfadex [Vitrolife, Göteborg, Sweden], Papworth, and Euro-Collins [Baxter Healthcare, Old Toongabbie NSW, Australia]) on posttransplant outcomes.
