Ionization and fragmentation of C60 fullerenes is studied in elliptically polarized, intense fs laser fields at 797 nm [I=(0.5-4.3)x10;{14} W cm;{-2}] and contrasted with Xe+, utilizing time-of-flight mass spectrometry. Very pronounced changes of parent and fragment ion yield as a function of ellipticity are observed. At lower intensities reduction of the ion yield for circular polarization establishes a coherent two-photon process connected with the key role of the LUMO+1(t_{1g}) "doorway state" and multielectron dynamics. Comparison with the behavior at 399 nm corroborates this finding. At high intensities enhanced fragmentation is observed which is tentatively attributed to returning loops of electron trajectories by the combined action of the C60+ field and the circular laser field.

Background: Freshwater fish are affected with much parasitic diseases, among the most common are Henneguyosis caused by myxozoans of the genus Henneguya, which exhibit great diversity in fish from South America, particularly in the Brazilian Amazon.
Purpose: In this present study, we describe the morphological and phylogenetic aspects of the small ribosomal subunit (SSU rDNA) of two new species of Henneguya infecting the gills from Hypophthalmus marginatus, a freshwater catfish from the Amazon.
Methods: In 148 specimens, has been observed cyst formation in different regions of the gills, intrafilamentary and intralamellar.

Sensing light's polarization and wavefront direction enables surface curvature assessment, material identification, shadow differentiation, and improved image quality in turbid environments. Traditional polarization cameras utilize multiple sensor measurements per pixel and polarization-filtering optics, which result in reduced image resolution. We propose a nanophotonic pipeline that enables compressive sensing and reduces the sampling requirements with a low-refractive-index, self-assembled optical encoder.

This study introduces a simple approach to dynamically control multilevel optical ellipticity in ferrimagnetic GdFeCo alloys by switching the spin orientation through Joule heating induced by electrical current, with the assistance of a low magnetic field of 3.5 mT. It is demonstrated that selecting specific compositions of Gd (FeCo) alloys, with magnetic compensation temperatures near or above room temperature, allows for significant manipulation of the circular dichroism (CD) effect.

Electron-hole exchange interaction in two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides is extremely strong due to the dimension reduction, which promises valley-superposed excitonic states with linearly polarized optical emissions. However, strong circular polarization reflecting valley-polarized excitonic states is commonly observed in helicity-resolved optical experiments. Here, we present a non-Hermitian theory of valley excitons by incorporating optical pumping and intrinsic decay, which unveils an anomalous valley-polarized excitonic state with elliptically polarized optical emission.
