In the spontaneous hypertensive rats (SHR)--line NISAG--most cardiac hystiocytes of the left ventriculum have signs of ultrastructure damage to a variable extent. First of all the contractile and energetic function of cardiac hystiocytes has different abnormalities. Administration of Lipril (20 mg/kg daily, during three months) showed the normalization of the ultrastructure of myocardium of SHR. This was evident through decreased in overcontractility of muscular fibrils till complete or partial disappearance of structuring sarcomers. Most mitochondria preserve ultrastructural organization. There are practically no damages in the endothelium, except non-significant vasoconstriction. The comparative analysis of the ultrastructural changes of cardiac hystiocyte of SHR after 3 months of treatment of Lipril showed that current medication has the recoverable effect on the structural organization of cardiac hystiocytes, mitochondrion and blood vessels.

Purpose of the investigation was to examine structural rearrangements in the cortical cytoskeleton as a result of changes in external mechanic conditions. Objects of the investigation were Wistar rat's m. soleus fibers and left ventricle hystiocytes.

Mitral valves tissue samplings from children with complete (13 patients) and partial (6 patients) atrioventricular defects at the age of from I month to 3 years old were examined. The biopsy material was received during the repeat surgical operation on mitral valve, performed due to residual mitral valve regurgitation grade 3-4 at the period of time from 2 days to 1 year after radical defect correction. On histological examination the areas of myxomatous tissue degeneration occupying more than 50% of mitral valves surface were found in 6 (32%) of the 19 patients.

The results of the quantitative electron-microscopy investigation of the left heart myocardium in rats continuously exposed to 2 G in the pre- and postnatal (75 days) ontogenesis evidence formation of a cardiac hystiocyte ultrastructure in support of the functioning of the left ventricle myocardium against chronically high blood weight. Mechanisms of the functional adaptation of cardiac hystiocytes to 2 G do not correspond to mechanisms observed by other authors in adult rats chronically exposed to hypergravity (2 G) which infers a better effectiveness of adaptation mechanisms formed in the course of pre- and postnatal ontogenesis.

The study of endomyocardial biopsy of patients with different noncoranary diseases with dilated cardiomyopathy and heart failure has been carried out. Hypertrophy of cardiac hystiocyte (CH) with dead mitochondrion, accumulation of lipofuscin, myeline-like mass, vacuoles with remains of organoids and conglomeration of dead mitochondrion was in the all biopsies studied by the light and electron microscopy. The possible mechanism of aging and death of CH could be functional impairment of lysosomal-autophagic and ubiquitin-proteosomal systems of CH and exocytosis.

Hearts of 21 died patients with ischemic heart disease (IHD) have been studied by histlological and morphometrical methods. The atrial auricles derived after operation of 66 patients with heart diseases and IHD have been researched by automatic semiquantitative and immunohistochemical techniques. In general atrial fibrillation (AF) has been evident in chronic myocarditis probably conditioned by viral infections.
