Background: Primary soft tissue sarcomas of the breast are extremely rare neoplasms, and the value of a fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) in the preoperative or intraoperative diagnosis of soft tissue tumors in the breast is still controversial. Nevertheless, correct recognition of such lesions can avoid unnecessary sentinel and axillary lymph node dissection.

Case: We report a 45-year-old woman who presented with a 10-cm tumor in her right breast. FNAB showed spindle-shaped cells with nuclear pleomorphism, occasional intranuclear cytoplasmic inclusions, myxoid stroma and curvilinear vessels. Immunocytochemical staining for cytokeratins was negative. A diagnosis of a primary myxoid breast sarcoma was made, and the possibility of a myxofibrosarcoma vs. malignant phyllodes tumor was suggested. A right mastectomy was performed, and a primary myxofibrosarcoma of the breast was confirmed by histologic examination.

Conclusion: The key cytologic features of myxofibrosarcoma are spindle cell proliferation with a moderate degree of nuclear pleomorphism, myxoid stroma and curvilinear blood vessels. Although cytologic features of myxofibrosarcoma are not entirely specific, supplementary negative immunocytochemistry for different molecular weight cytokeratins indicates a soft tissue neoplasm.

Bioceramics for Guided Bone Regeneration: A Multicenter Randomized Controlled Trial.

Clin Implant Dent Relat Res

February 2025

State Key Laboratory of Oral & Maxillofacial Reconstruction and Regeneration, Key Laboratory of Oral Biomedicine Ministry of Education, Hubei Key Laboratory of Stomatology, School & Hospital of Stomatology, Wuhan University, Wuhan, China.

Objectives: To compare the clinical effectiveness of a novel bioceramic (BC) with a control xenograft (BO) for guided bone regeneration (GBR) performed simultaneously with implant placement.

Materials And Methods: This clinical study enrolled patients with insufficient bone volume who required GBR during implant placement to increase bone width using either BC or BO. Outcome measures included a dimensional reduction in buccal bone thickness measured by cone beam computed tomography performed immediately post-surgery and at 6 months postoperatively (ΔHBBT), soft tissue healing at 14 days, 1 month, and 6 months postoperatively, and complications rates.

Purpose: This study investigated epidemiologic features of patients with pancreatic cancer in Korea, according to the histologic subtypes.

Methods: The Korea Central Cancer Registry data on patients with pancreatic cancer from 1999 to 2019 were reviewed. The 101,446 patients with pancreatic cancer (C25 based on the International Classification of Diseases, 10th revision) were allocated according to the following morphological codes: A, endocrine; B, carcinoma excluding cystic and mucinous; C, cystic or mucinous; D, acinar cell; and E, sarcoma and soft tissue tumor.

Background: Robotic-assisted total knee arthroplasty (RA-TKA) was introduced to provide surgeons with virtual preoperative planning and intraoperative information to achieve the desired surgical goals in an effort to improve patient outcomes. The purpose of this study was to compare clinical outcomes and patient-reported outcome measures following primary TKA using RA-TKA vs manual instrumentation.

Methods: This was a retrospective cohort review study comparing 393 primary RA-TKAs vs 312 manual TKAs at a minimum 2-year follow-up.
