A series of photosensitizers (PS), which are meso-substituted tetra-cationic porphyrins, was synthesized in order to study the role of amphiphilicity and zinc insertion in photodynamic therapy (PDT) efficacy. Several properties of the PS were evaluated and compared within the series including photophysical properties (absorption spectra, fluorescence quantum yield Phif, and singlet oxygen quantum yield PhiDelta), uptake by vesicles, mitochondria and HeLa cells, dark and phototoxicity in HeLa cells. The photophysical properties of all compounds are quite similar (Phif

Increasing attention to sustainability and cost-effectiveness in energy storage sector has catalyzed the rise of rechargeable Zinc-ion batteries (ZIBs). However, finding replacement for limited cycle-life Zn-anode is a major challenge. Molybdenum disulfide (MoS), an insertion-type 2D layered material, has shown promising characteristics as a ZIB anode.

Arabidopsis MYB transcription factor, AtDUO1 regulates generative cell body (GC) morphogenesis from round to semi and fully elongated forms before pollen mitosis-II (PM II). It was hypothesised that DUO1 might regulate morphogenesis through any of its direct target genes or components of the DUO1-DAZ1 network. The developmental analysis of plants harbouring T-DNA insertions in some DUO1 target genes using light and fluorescence microscopy revealed abnormal GC morphogenesis only in daz1 and daz2, but gcs1, trm16, mapkkk10, mapkkk20, tet11, and tip1 all undergo normal elongation indicating that these target genes have no important roles in morphogenesis or may be redundant.

Aqueous zinc (Zn) metal batteries (ZMBs) have received great attention due to their safety and environmental friendliness. Although aqueous electrolytes facilitate fast kinetics in metal oxide cathodes, their incompatibility with the Zn metal anodes triggers severe hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and dendrite growth. Herein, a self-phase separated electrolyte (SPSE) is proposed to fulfill the contradictory requirements of the anode and cathode in ZMBs.

Homeostasis is essential in biological neural networks, optimizing information processing and experience-dependent learning by maintaining the balance of neuronal activity. However, conventional two-terminal memristors have limitations in implementing homeostatic functions due to the absence of global regulation ability. Here, three-terminal oxide memtransistor-based homeostatic synapses are demonstrated to perform highly linear synaptic weight update and enhanced accuracy in neuromorphic computing.
