Article Abstract

Five compounds, huyouyisu (1), vomifoliol (2), isoferulic acid (3), 1,2,3-trihydroxyphenol (4) and p-hydroxy-phenol (5), were isolated from the peels of Citrus changshan-huyou Y. B. Chang for the first time by utilizing repeated column chromatography on silica gel. Among them, huyouyisu (1) is a new compound. The structure was elucidated by using 1D and 2D spectra.

Background: Biohydrogen production from agro-industrial wastes through dark fermentation offers several advantages including eco-friendliness, sustainability, and the simplicity of the process. This study aimed to produce biohydrogen from fruit and vegetable peel wastes (FVPWs) by anaerobic fermentative bacteria isolated from domestic wastewater. Kinetic analysis of the produced biohydrogen by five isolates on a glucose medium was analyzed using a modified Gompertz model (MGM).

Background: The main obstacle facing the utilization of microbial enzymes in industrial applications is the high cost of production substrates. As a result of the mentioned different wastes (coffee powder waste, dates nawah powder, molokhia stems, pea peels, lemon peels, and corn cobs) were investigated as low-cost nutritional substrates for the production of microbial β-galactosidase in this study. The purification of the enzyme and its kinetic and thermodynamics were investigated.
