Introduction: Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) are used widely to collect patient perspectives on their Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQoL) after stroke. Existing reviews on PROMs typically report the psychometric properties but rarely focus on the content validity. We performed a structured review of the content of items of stroke-specific HRQoL outcomes.

BODIPY photocages (photocleavable protective groups) have stirred interest because they can release biologically active cargo upon visible light excitation. We conducted combined theoretical and experimental investigations on selected BODIPY photocages to elucidate the mechanism of the competing photocleavage at the boron and -position. Based on the computations, the former reaction involves elongation of the B-C bond, yielding a tight borenium cation and methyl anion.

Introduction: We investigate the relationship between bias, that is, cognitive distortions about the severity of infectious disease and social well-being.
Materials And Methods: First, we establish empirically the existence of bias and analyze some of its causes; specifically, during the COVID-19 pandemic. Second, we derive an integrated economic-epidemiological differential equation model from an agent-based model that combines myopic rational choice with infectious disease dynamics.

A current challenge in the rational design of biomolecular sensors is the ability to custom design binding affinities and detection mode in silico. To this end, we re-engineered a previously reported computationally-designed fluorescent maltooligosaccharide (MOS)-detecting biosensor to both alter its ligand-binding affinity and to analyse the underlying sensing mechanism. The dynamic range of the biosensor was expanded through the computer aided introduction of a series of amino acid substitutions in the starting protein scaffold (MalX from Streptococcus pneumoniae), which generated a biosensor set with binding affinities spanning over five orders of magnitude.

Photoelectric conversion in ferroelectric crystals can support many important applications in modern on-chip technology, but suffering from two problems, low responsive current and narrow responsive range. Especially, wide-gap ferroelectric oxides are only active at short-wavelength ultraviolet region with weak photocurrent at nanoampere levels. Here, a bifunctional design strategy of ferroelectric-order and electronic-band to improve the photocurrent and extend the responsive range simultaneously, is proposed.
