Numerous interpolation-based methods have been described for reducing metal artifacts in CT images, but due to the limit of the interpolation methods, interpolation alone often fails to meet the clinical demands. In this paper, we describe the use of quartic polynomial interpolation in reconstruction of the images of the metal implant followed by linear interpolation to eliminate the streaks. The two interpolation methods are combined according to their given weights to achieve good results.

Background: We evaluated the accuracy of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) computed tomography (CT)-like sequences compared to normal-resolution CT (NR-CT) and super-high-resolution CT (SHR-CT) for planning of cochlear implantation.
Methods: Six cadaveric temporal bone specimens were used. 3-T MRI scans were performed using radial volumetric interpolated breath-hold (STARVIBE), pointwise-encoding time reduction with radial acquisition (PETRA), and ultrashort time of echo (UTE) sequences.

Milling chatter, a form of self-excited vibration, can cause significant damage in machining and manufacturing processes. By selecting appropriate milling parameters, milling chatter can be effectively mitigated without sacrificing milling efficiency. Within the framework of the semi-discretization scheme, this paper introduces the Newton-Simpson-based predictor-corrector methods to compute milling stability lobe diagrams.

In the Johor River Basin, a comprehensive analysis was conducted on 24 water environmental parameters across 33 sampling sites over 3 years, encompassing both dry and wet seasons. A total of 396 water samples were collected and analyzed to calculate the Water Quality Index (WQI). To further assess water quality and pinpoint potential pollution sources, multivariate techniques such as principal component analysis (PCA) and cluster analysis (CA), alongside spatial analysis using inverse distance weighted (IDW) interpolation, were employed.

The discrete empirical interpolation method (DEIM) is well-established as a means of performing model order reduction in approximating solutions to differential equations, but it has also more recently demonstrated potential in performing data class detection through subset selection. Leveraging the singular value decomposition for dimension reduction, DEIM uses interpolatory projection to identify the representative rows and/or columns of a data matrix. This approach has been adapted to develop additional algorithms, including a CUR matrix factorization for performing dimension reduction while preserving the interpretability of the data.

In this study, a linked simulation optimization (SO) model is presented for identification of groundwater contaminant sources. The SO model consists of two steps namely, simulation and optimization. The simulation step entails developing a groundwater contaminant transport model in which the advection-dispersion-reaction equation (ADRE) is solved for predicting the concentration of the contaminant.
