The International Health Regulations (2005), which entered into force in June 2007, provide guidelines and recommendations to establish core capacities not only in communicable disease surveillance but also in preparedness and response to every, even unpredictable, public health emergencies. The points of entry are the trouble spot in the spread of diseases through international traffic. Noteworthy is fact that under IHR (2005) the point of entry is understand as a passage of international flow of travellers, baggage, cargo, containers, conveyances, goods and also postal parcels. The proper control and prophylaxis actions may mineralize or stop an international spreading of disease. That is why WHO puts an effort to help State-Parties to strengthen their national surveillance systems and develop core capacities in preparedness and response in points of entry. In the article the author gives examples of prophylaxis of communicable diseases in points of entry according to IHR (2005) recommendations.

As the number of coronavirus diseases-2019 (COVID-19) cases have decreased and measures have started to be implemented at an individual level rather than in the form of social restrictions, severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) still maintains its importance and has already taken its place in the spectrum of agents investigated in multiplex molecular test panels for respiratory tract infections in routine diagnostic use. In this study, we aimed to present mutation analysis and clade distribution of whole genome sequences from randomly selected samples that tested positive with SARS-CoV-2 specific real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (rRT-PCR) test at different periods of the pandemic in our laboratory with a commercial easy-to-use kit designed for next-generation sequencing systems. A total of 84 nasopharyngeal/oropharyngeal swab samples of COVID-19 suspected patients which were sent for routine diagnosis to the medical microbiology laboratory and detected as SARSCoV-2 RNA positive with rRT-PCR were randomly selected from different periods for sequence analysis.

Background: When patients with a failed hip arthroplasty are unsuitable for reimplantation, Girdlestone resection arthroplasty (GRA) is a viable treatment option. We report on a patient who was treated with a GRA due to a periprosthetic infection. We discovered partial paralysis of the quadriceps muscle in this patient.

This paper discusses how harmful practices such as child marriage and female genital mutilation/cutting (FGM/C) can be effectively explored through feminist methodologies that center the lived experiences of girls and young women affected by these issues. Eliminating harmful practices, which are rooted in gender inequality and have myriad life-course consequences for those who experience them, has become a global priority in recent years. However, dominant conceptualizations of the drivers and consequences of child marriage and FGM/C often fail to adequately engage with or reflect adolescent girls' own nuanced experiences and perceptions.

We discuss a case of meningitis caused by infection in a previously healthy elderly male who presented with altered mental status and new-onset seizures requiring intensive care. An open wound had served as an entry point for the infectious organism. After 25 days of treatment with meropenem, he recovered with persistent functional limitations and was discharged.

Background: Accurate histological analysis is crucial for confirming intracerebral neoplasia due to the diverse array of potential diagnoses presented by imaging. In the realm of biopsy techniques, the use of robot-based systems is on the rise, primarily owing to their heightened targeting accuracy. The objective of this study was to elucidate the practicality, learning curve and workflow associated with robot-guided biopsies upon their introduction to a neurosurgical centre.
