Water-medium clean organic reactions including isomerization and hydrogenation were carried out over a Ru(II) mesoporous organometallic catalyst (Ru-MOC) synthesized based on surfactant-directed coassembly of a bridged Ru(II) organometallicsilane and tetraethoxysilane. Owing to the large surface area, the ordered mesoporous channels, and the highly dispersed Ru(II) active sites, the activity and selectivity of the Ru-MOC catalyst are much higherthan that of the immobilized Ru(II) catalyst obtained through regular grafting technology. The Ru-MOC catalyst exhibited similar activity and selectivity to the corresponding homogeneous Ru(II) organometallic catalysts. However, it could be easily separated and recycled, thus will reduce the cost significantly and even avoid the environmental pollution caused by heavy metallic ions in industrial application. The correlation of catalytic performance to structural characteristicswas discussed based on detailed characterizations.

Nanosculptured tungsten oxide: High-efficiency SERS sensor for explosives tracing.

The accurate and rapid identification of explosives and their toxic by-products is an important aspect of safety protocols, forensic investigations and pollution studies. Herein, surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) is used to detect different explosive molecules using an improved substrate design by controllable oxidation of the tungsten surface and deposition of Au layers. The resulting furrow-like morphology formed at the intersection of the tungsten Wulff facets increases nanoroughness and improves the SERS response by over 300 % compared to the untreated surface.

To improve the separation efficiency of raw coal and ensure clean use, the accurate calculation of the partition coefficients (PCs) in coal water medium sorting is required. Single models have been used to predict the partition coefficient (PC) for decades, but their accuracy remains constrained. This study proposes a multi-model (MM) calculation method based on the Gompertz model (GM), the Logistic model (LM), the Arctangent model (AM), and the Approximate formula (AFM) to improve the accuracy of the predicted coal water medium sorting PCs.

Adsorption Behaviour of Reactive Blue 194 on Raw Ramie Yarn in Palm Oil and Water Media.

Materials (Basel)

November 2022

Sanitary Environmental Engineering Division (SEED), Department of Civil Engineering, University of Salerno, 84084 Fisciano, Italy.

As an edible oil, palm oil is also safe and reliable in dyeing, and the residual palm oil after dyeing can be recycled and used continuously, which is green and environmentally friendly and has great research prospects. In this research, raw ramie yarn, used for traditional grass cloth, was dyed in a palm oil medium using Reactive Blue 194. Studying the adsorption and diffusion behaviour in the dyeing process is necessary.

Removal of nutrients and other emerging inorganic contaminants from water and wastewater by electrocoagulation process.

Chemosphere

November 2022

Department of Environmental Health Engineering, School of Health, Qazvin University of Medical Sciences, Qazvin, Iran; Social Determinants of Health Research Center, Research Institute for Prevention of Non-Communicable Diseases, Qazvin University of Medical Sciences, Qazvin, Iran.

The continual discharge of emerging inorganic pollutants into natural aquatic systems and their negative effects on the environment have motivated the researchers to explore and develop clean and efficient water treatment strategies. Electrocoagulation (EC) is a rapid and promising pollutant removal approach that does not require any chemical additives or complicated process management. Therefore, inorganic pollutant treatment via the EC process is considered one of the most feasible processes.
