Introduction: Stigmatizing attitudes held by health care professionals against individuals with substance use disorder (SUD) result in worse clinical outcomes. Story-listening has been shown to help mitigate bias for medical trainees. We created a narrative-based small-group facilitated discussion between medical students and an individual in recovery from SUD through a direct partnership with a community peer-recovery organization.

While apigenin is an anti-cancer agent, studies on the mechanism by which it regulates ALL cell cycle progression are inadequate. The polysaccharide chitosan possesses broad-spectrum antimicrobial properties and has proven effective in controlling various postharvest diseases in fruits. Nevertheless, the fundamental mechanisms underlying its action remain unclear. In this study, the antifungal effects of chitosan with different molecular weights against Fusarium avenaceum, a pathogen causing root rot in Angelica sinensis, were evaluated.

Monitoring of genotoxic chemicals released into the water cycle or formed through transformation processes is critical to prevent harm to human health. The development of the high-performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC)-umu bioassay combines sample separation and detection of genotoxic substances in the low ng/L concentration range. In this study, raw, process, and drinking water samples from 11 different waterworks in Germany were analyzed using the HPTLC-umu.

Context: The decline in ovarian reserve is a major concern in female reproductive health, often associated with oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction. Although ginsenoside Rg1 is known to modulate mitophagy, its effectiveness in mitigating ovarian reserve decline remains unclear.
Objective: To investigate the role of ginsenoside Rg1 in promoting mitophagy to preserve ovarian reserve.
