The article presents a biomechanical model of articulatio and mm. coxae with the characteristics of the vectors of reaction forces generated in flexors and extensors (1) in muscular balance; (2) in muscular dysbalance; (2a) with permanent load of the model of a hip by the body weight; (2b) with simulated live load during a fall or an impact. In case of muscular dysbalance the application of action force on a hip during a fall results in a sharp increase of the reaction compressive force in flexors and the tensile force in extensors. Muscular dysbalance of external (extensors) and internal (flexors) muscles of mm. coxae facilitates in this way complicated splintered fractures in the collum femoris area, and in the pertrochanteric and subtrochanteric areas. Muscular balance achieved by balancing exercises and mechanical protection of the joint reduce the risk of splintered and complicated fractures in the described area (Tab. 1, Fig. 5, Photo 9, Ref. 9).

Proximal femoral osteotomies are common surgical interventions to treat hip deformities in pediatric orthopedics. The aim of proximal femoral osteotomies is to optimise hip containment by using varus or valgus osteotomy, flexion or extension osteotomy with shortening, lengthening or derotation of the femoral neck. Furthermore improved muscular dysbalance by enhancing the femoral offset, extension of the range of motion and pain reduction are important surgical intentions.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe changes in metabolism of the amine acids, enzymes, electrolytes, fat acids (FA) in skeletal muscles of anterior and posterior extremities of rats in significant defects of peripheral nerve and its autoplasty were studied in experimental investigation. Metabolic changes in skeletal muscles are accompanied by significant intensity of proteolysis, lowering of the enzymes activity, energetic metabolism and in a less extent of the electrolytes balance and the FA metabolism. After autoplasty of big defects in the traumatized nerve the proteins' synthesis and restoration of activity of lactate dehydrogenase and creatine phosphokinase constitute the markers of muscular tissue restoration.

Malignant hyperthermia is a life-threatening disease caused by derangement of the autonomic nerve system and hypermetabolism of the peripheral musculature. Commonly body core temperatures of more than 40 °C will be found in this disease which is caused mostly by psychopharmacological drugs like antidepressants, neuroleptics but also antibiotics, pain killers, anti-Parkinson drugs, and volatile anesthetics. The inducers of malignant hyperthermia interact with postsynaptic receptors (serotonin, anticholinergics) or muscular intracellular structures responsible for calcium utilization (volatile anesthetics, succinylcholine).
