Purpose: To determine if fertilization and embryo cleavage can be achieved by artificial oocyte activation in circumstances of repeated failed fertilization with sperm that have an acrosome.
Methods: A woman with three IVF cycles with intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) failed to fertilize any eggs. The sperm had severe oligoasthenoteratozoospermia with no sperm with normal morphology. In the fourth IVF cycle fertilization was evaluated by performing ICSI with the husband's sperm and egg activation with calcium ionophore, ICSI with the husband's sperm without artificial oocyte activation, and ICSI with donor sperm.
Results: Five mature oocytes were retrieved. Of the four eggs having ICSI with the husband's sperm only one of the two activated by calcium ionophore fertilized and resulted in a cleaved day 3 embryo. Interestingly, the one egg fertilized by donor sperm did not fertilize.
Conclusions: The data could be consistent with conclusions that in some cases the failure to fertilize may be related to an oocyte activation factor/receptor problem in the oocyte that can be overcome by the use of calcium ionophore.

Pesticides, including insecticides, are indispensable for large-scale agriculture. Modulating chloride ion channels has proven highly successful as a mode of action (MoA) for insect management. Identifying new ligands for these channels affords opportunities for the potential development of new insecticide products.

Background: Transgender and gender diverse (TGD) people seek gender-affirming care at any age to manage gender identities or expressions that differ from their birth gender. Gender-affirming hormone treatment (GAHT) and gender-affirming surgery may alter reproductive function and/or anatomy, limiting future reproductive options to varying degrees, if individuals desire to either give birth or become a biological parent.
Objective And Rationale: TGD people increasingly pursue help for their reproductive questions, including fertility, fertility preservation, active desire for children, and future options.

Purpose: To investigate BMAL1 and BMP6 expressive differences in ovarian granulosa cells (OGCs) of patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), explore regulatory relationship, assess their impacts on OGC proliferation and apoptosis, and analyze their correlations with ART outcomes of patients.
Methods: A clinical study selected 40 PCOS patients who underwent IVF/ICSI in our hospital from January to October 2022 and 39 controls with male or tubal factor infertility. RT-qPCR and Western blot assessed BMAL1 and BMP6 mRNA/protein levels.

Chlorogenic acid (CGA) has strong antioxidant properties. In order to improve the low maturation rate and poor vitrification freezing effect of sheep oocytes caused by oxidative stress. In this study, oocytes from 200 2-3-year-old Kazakh sheep were collected, and different concentrations of CGA were added to the maturation medium and vitrification freezing solution to study the effects of CGA on the maturation rate, cleavage rate, blastocyst rate, reactive oxygen species (ROS) and glutathione (GSH) levels, mitochondrial membrane potential, and the expression levels of oxidation and apoptosis-related genes in sheep oocytes.

Increasing evidence has demonstrated that oxidative stress impairs oocyte maturation and embryonic development. Conventionally, antioxidants have been applied systems to improve oocyte maturation and blastocyst rates. Formononetin (FMN) is a flavonoid that has been shown to have various pharmacological effects, including antioxidants.
