Wild passerine birds (Passeriformes) from northeastern part of the Czech Republic were examined for ectoparasites. Three species of louse-flies of the genus Ornithomya (Diptera: Hippoboscidae), two species of fleas of the genera Ceratophyllus and Dasypsyllus (Siphonaptera: Ceratophyllidae), and 15 species of chewing lice belonging to the genera Myrsidea, Menacanthus (Phthiraptera: Menoponidae), Brueelia, Penenirmus, Philopterus (Phthiraptera: Philopteridae) were found on 82 birds of 23 species. New chewing louse-host records are Hippolais icterina for Menacanthus currucae; Motacilla cinerea for Menacanthus pusillus; Turdus philomelos and Motacilla cinerea for Brueelia merulensis; and Sylvia atricapilla for Menacanthus eurysternus. Brueelia neoatricapillae is cited for the first time for the Czech Republic. Parasitological parameters such as prevalence, intensity and abundance are also discussed.

Electric fields represent an ideal means for controlling spins at the nanoscale and, more specifically, for manipulating protected degrees of freedom in multispin systems. Here we perform low-temperature magnetic far-IR spectroscopy on a molecular spin triangle (Fe) and provide initial experimental evidence suggesting spin-electric transitions in polynuclear complexes. The co-presence of electric- and magnetic-dipole transitions, allows us to estimate the spin-electric coupling.

We report the synthesis of [Ag(o-CBT)] abbreviated as Ag, a stable 8e⁻ anionic cluster with a unique Ag@Ag@Ag core-shell structure, where o-CBT is ortho-carborane-1-thiol. By substituting Ag atoms with Au and/or Cu at specific sites we created isostructural clusters [AuAg(o-CBT)] (AuAg), [AgCu(o-CBT)] (AgCu) and [AuAgCu(o-CBT)] (AuAgCu). These substitutions make systematic modulation of their structural and electronic properties.

Under salt stress, autophagy regulates ionic balance, scavenges ROS, and supports nutrient remobilization, thereby alleviating osmotic and oxidative damage. Salt stress is a major environmental challenge that significantly impacts plant growth and agricultural productivity by disrupting nutrient balance, inducing osmotic stress, and causing the accumulation of toxic ions like Na. Autophagy, a key cellular degradation and recycling pathway, plays a critical role in enhancing plant salt tolerance by maintaining cellular homeostasis and mitigating stress-induced damage.

One-year data from the ongoing BeyoND study (NCT02726386) showed that the ND0612 regimen was safe and well tolerated and provided a sustained ≥2-h improvement in daily Good ON-time through 12 months of treatment.
Methods: We describe 3-year safety and efficacy outcomes for participants who completed 12 months of ND0612 treatment in the core study period and entered the extension phase.

Intracellular protein aggregation causes proteotoxic stress, underlying highly debilitating neurodegenerative disorders in parallel with decreased proteasome activity. Nevertheless, under such stress conditions, the expression of proteasome subunits is upregulated by Nuclear Factor Erythroid 2-related factor 1 (NRF1), a transcription factor that is encoded by NFE2L1. Activating the NRF1 pathway could accordingly delay the onset of neurodegenerative and other disorders with impaired cell proteostasis.
