Post-transcriptional regulation of mRNA stability by Hu proteins is an important mechanism for tumorigenesis. We focused on the molecular interactions between the HuC protein and AU-rich elements (AREs) to find chemical inhibitors of RNA-protein interactions using RNA electrophoretic mobility shift assay with non-radioactive probes. Screening of 52 natural compounds identified 14 candidate compounds that displayed potent inhibitory activity. Six (quercetin, myricetin, (-)-epigallocatechin gallate, ellagic acid, (-)-epicatechin gallate, and rhamnetin) were categorized as phytochemicals, and their IC(50) values were low (0.2-1.8 microM). Sea buckthorn is a model of medicine and food homology, but the chemical composition and mechanism of anti-inflammatory effects are limited. In this study, the key components and mechanisms of the anti-inflammatory effects of sea buckthorn were identified based on UPLC-Q-TOF-MS, network pharmacology, molecular docking, molecular dynamics and RAW264.7 cells.

Candida is a commensal fungus of clinical interest that commonly lives in oral cavity and intestine but can become an opportunist microrganism and cause severe infections. A serie of 10 aminochalcones were designed and synthetized to obtain compounds anti-Candida with potent and broad-spectrum activity. The most active compound J34 demonstrated excellent in vitro activity against Candida albicans, Candida tropicalis, Candida parapsilosis, Candida glabrata and Candida krusei with minimum inhibitory concentration between 1.

Luteolin is widely distributed phytochemical, a flavonoid, in kingdom plantae. Luteolin with potential antioxidant activity prevent ROS-induced damages and reduce oxidative stress which is mainly responsible in pathogenesis of many diseases. Several chemo preventive activities and therapeutic benefits are associated with luteolin.

Developing a broad-spectrum antiviral is imperative in light of the recent emergence of recurring viral infections. The critical role of host-virus attachment and membrane fusion during enveloped virus entry is a suitable target for developing broad-spectrum antivirals. A new class of flavonoid-based fusion inhibitors are designed to alter the membrane's physical properties.

Lonicera caerulea var. kamtschatica (LCK), known as blue honeysuckle or haskap berry, is rich in bioactive compounds such as polyphenols, flavonoids, and anthocyanins, which are linked to various health benefits, including anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. The research specifically investigates the effects of an LCK extract that has been standardized to contain a minimum of 15% anthocyanins on inflammation and oxidative stress at the cellular level.
