In medical research we frequently need to delimit some areas of the measured parameters to use them in diagnosing existence of some kind of abnormality. In the article the usage of ROC curves and comparison of obtained results to the outcomes of logistic analysis, decision trees and reference intervals is described.

The genetic basis of complex traits involves the function of many genes with small effects as well as complex gene-gene and gene-environment interactions. As one of the major players in complex diseases, the role of gene-environment interactions has been increasingly recognized. Motivated by epidemiology studies to evaluate the joint effect of environmental mixtures, we developed a functional varying-index coefficient model (FVICM) to assess the combined effect of environmental mixtures and their interactions with genes, under a longitudinal design with quantitative traits.

Previous studies have indicated that in the standard binary version of the dictator game, people are less likely to behave altruistically when given the opportunity to be strategically ignorant. The present study aims to assess the robustness of individuals' strategic ignorance in the context of the emergence of empathic concern. It is reasonable to hypothesize that traditional standard dictator games may not be an optimal context for the emergence of empathic concern.

Hypothesis: Due to its huge polar headgroup, octaoxyethylene octyl ether carboxylic acid (CECHCOOH = Akypo LF2™) is supposed not to be able to change its curvature sufficiently to form bicontinuous microemulsions. Instead, upon adding an oil to the binary water - surfactant system, excess oil could be squeezed out or a biliquid foam could form.

Experiments: An auto-dilution setup was used to record small-angle X-ray scattering data along six dilution lines in the newly established phase diagram of the ternary system 2-ethylhexanol - CECHCOOH - water.

Background And Hypothesis: Among individuals living with psychotic disorders, social impairment is common, debilitating, and challenging to treat. While the roots of this impairment are undoubtedly complex, converging lines of evidence suggest that social motivation and pleasure (MAP) deficits play a central role. Yet most neuroimaging studies have focused on monetary rewards, precluding decisive inferences.

Department of Physical Therapy, Faculty of Health Care, Takasaki University of Health and Welfare, 27 Naka Orui-machi, Takasaki-shi 370-0033, Gunma, Japan.

This study aimed to test the hypothesis that knowledge derived from indirect assessments can be used to identify fall risk factors during a period of social distancing. A baseline survey of 1953 community-dwelling older adults was conducted in May 2020, with a follow-up survey performed in May 2023 to assess the situation 3 years later. In total, 339 individuals were followed from baseline to follow-up.
