Dengue fever and dengue hemorrhagic fever/dengue shock syndrome are highly infectious diseases caused by dengue virus (DV). Specific monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) against DV are vital for diagnosis, pathological studies, and passive immune therapy. In this study, purified DV serotype 2 (DV2) was used as antigen and BALB/c mice were immunized to induce specific antibodies. We established five hybridoma cell lines, called 78#, 1E7, 7F7, 8F12, and 8H1, respectively, and evaluated them by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, indirect immunofluorescence assay, Western blot, plaque reduction neutralization test, and suckling mice protection assay. Lines 78#, 1E7, 7F7, and 8F12 showed a neutralizing effect, and lines 78#, 1E7, 8F12, and 8H1 recognized envelope glycoprotein of DV2. Among them, lines 78# and 8F12 had stronger neutralizing ability in vitro and could protect some suckling mice from virus challenge. Our results demonstrate that immunization with purified virion is efficient for the production of specific neutralizing mAbs against DV2, and these mAbs could be useful tools for studying or treating DV infection.

The specific role that prolactin plays in lactational infertility, as distinct from other suckling or metabolic cues, remains unresolved. Here, deletion of the prolactin receptor (Prlr) from forebrain neurons or arcuate kisspeptin neurons resulted in failure to maintain normal lactation-induced suppression of estrous cycles. Kisspeptin immunoreactivity and pulsatile LH secretion were increased in these mice, even in the presence of ongoing suckling stimulation and lactation.

Background: Akabane virus (AKAV) is an arthropod-borne virus that causes congenital malformations and neuropathology in cattle and sheep. In South Korea, AKAVs are classified into two main genogroups: K0505 and AKAV-7 strains. The K0505 strain infects pregnant cattle, leading to fetal abnormalities, while the AKAV-7 strain induces encephalomyelitis in post-natal cattle.

Microbial transmission from mother to infant is important for offspring microbiome formation and health. However, it is unclear whether maternal gut inflammation (MGI) during lactation influences mother-to-infant microbial transmission and offspring microbiota and disease susceptibility. In this study, it is found that MGI during lactation altered the gut microbiota of suckling pups by shaping the maternal microbiota in the gut and mammary glands.

Yersinia enterocolitica, a bacterial enteropathogen that produces a variety of clinical manifestations in humans, includes six biotypes (B), called 1A, 1B, 2, 3, 4 and 5 and about 70 serotypes. The biotypes exhibit diverse pathogenic potential; while 1B and 2-5 may show ability to produce clinical symptoms due to the presence of chromosomal and plasmid (pYV) virulence genes, B1A is supposed a non-pathogenic biotype since it lacks pYV plasmid. Therefore, although B1A strains cause diarrhea in humans, their pathogenic potential has not yet been extensively studied.

Maternal immunization is an important tool directed against a variety of infectious maladies in the offspring. A complementary, but less explored area is the use of maternal immunization in the prevention and treatment of childhood cancers. This in part stems from the lack of adequate experimental model systems.
