Objectives: To examine social support needs of obese and overweight African American women for weight loss.
Methods: Focus groups were conducted with overweight and obese African American women. Data were analyzed using standard grounded theory text analysis.
Results: Our middle-aged (45.7 years; SD = 12.6) women (N = 66) were interested in receiving support from others focused on the health benefits of weight loss. Behaviors perceived as supportive include co-participating in exercise, providing nutrition education, using positive reinforcements, and avoiding criticism.
Conclusions: African American women are interested in a program designed to increase social support for their weight loss.

Objectives: To develop a predictive tool to assist in predicting the risk of Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) following robot-assisted partial nephrectomy (RAPN).
Methods: A retrospective review was performed on the prospectively maintained, IRB-approved database to identify all consecutive patients who underwent RAPN between 2008 and 2023. Patients with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD), horseshoe kidneys, solitary kidneys, and previous renal transplant recipients were excluded.

Guided by the socioecological framework, we examined individual and system-level factors associated with caregiver health-related quality of life (HRQoL) among preschool children (aged two to six years) enrolled in a multilevel home- and school-based asthma educational intervention in Baltimore, Maryland. Primary outcome was caregiver HRQoL measured at baseline and six months.
