Published: September 2008

Objective: To explore the technique of rapid propagation for Phytolacca americana.

Methods: Aseptic seedling were used as explants.

Results: The best explants were the stems from strong aseptic seedling. The optimal culture media were MS + NAA (0.2 mg/L) +6-BA (1.0 mg/L) for primarily culture, MS + NAA (0.2 mg/L) +6-BA (2.0 mg/L) for the induction of clustered shoots 1/2MS with NAA 0.4 mg/L for rooting.

Conclusion: The propagating coefficient of Phytolacca americana can be improved by inducing the clustered shoots from aseptic seedling.

Article Synopsis
  • Pine wilt disease (PWD) is caused by a tiny worm called the pine wood nematode (PWN), and it harms pine forests around the world.
  • This study looks at how a type of pine tree in China fights against PWN, discovering many genes that change when the tree is infected.
  • The research found that certain chemical pathways in the tree help it defend itself by producing special substances and proteins to fight off the nematode.

Oriental hybrid lilies, known for their vibrant colors, diverse flower shapes, and long blooming seasons, require annual bulb propagation in horticultural production. This necessity can lead to higher production costs and limit their use in landscaping. The LA hybrid lily 'Aladdin' has shown strong self-reproduction capabilities in optimal cultivation environments, producing numerous high-quality underground stem bulblets.

Aseptic seedlings of different ages derived from surface-sterilized mature seeds were applied as an explant source. Various explants such as 7- and 21-day-old hypocotyl fragments, 42-day-old nodal stem segments, and transverse nodal segments of stem, as well as leaf petioles, were cultured on the agar-solidified Murashige and Skoog (MS) basal medium supplemented with 0.1 mg/L IAA, 5 mg/L AgNO and different types and concentrations of cytokinin (1 mg/L zeatin, 0.

Background: Alternaria alternata is the primary pathogen of potato leaf spot disease, resulting in significant potato yield losses globally. Endophytic microorganism-based biological control, especially using microorganisms from host plants, has emerged as a promising and eco-friendly approach for managing plant diseases. Therefore, this study aimed to isolate, identify and characterize the endophytic fungi from healthy potato leaves which had great antifungal activity to the potato leaf spot pathogen of A.
