Many current studies of prosthodontic treatment use patient-based outcomes. Traditionally, these outcomes are measured using quantitative methods. However, qualitative research methods can provide important information that cannot be found using quantitative techniques. In this article, the authors review quantitative and qualitative research studies. Differences, advantages and disadvantages of each method are highlighted. Prosthodontic researchers are encouraged to combine these methods to benefit from the potential of each of these approaches.

Background: Increased attention has been focused on the association of periodontal disease with cardio-metabolic syndrome. Although the associations are multi-factorial, very few studies have explored the role of lipoprotein Apo A1 and Apo B100 with chronic periodontitis. Additionally, obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), a chronic multi-factorial respiratory disease, consists of a temporary decrease or cessation of breath for ≥ 10 seconds and leads to a reduction in blood oxygen saturation of more than 3% to 4% and/or neurological arousal.

Background: Oral cancer remains 1 of the biggest health care challenges; it has a poor response to treatment, and treatment often results in severe side effects. Nano-targeted drug carrier-assisted drug delivery systems can improve the benefits of targeted drug delivery and treatment efficacy. A systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted to investigate the effect of targeted nano carrier drug delivery systems on the management of oral cancer.

Background: Zygomatic implants are becoming an ideal treatment approach for implant-supported prosthesis treatment developed for the atrophic maxilla. This study aims to evaluate the amount and distribution of stress in implants and peri-implant bone using different implant-supported prosthesis configurations in Aramany Class I maxillary defects through 3-dimensional finite element analysis.

Methods: A 3-dimensional finite element model of the Aramany class I defect was created.

Objective: The present study aimed to investigate the impact of utilizing an innovative and comprehensive patient-centered digital clinical decision aid designed to facilitate shared decision-making in missing tooth replacement between dental students and their patients.

Methods: A qualitative study using interview approach was conducted in Hong Kong SAR and Malaysia. Thirty dental undergraduate students, each with one patient from the Faculty of Dentistry at XXX (n=15) and XXX (n=15), were introduced to a digitally designed decision aid in missing tooth replacement prior to their treatment appointments.

The window technique is a highly useful clinical procedure for resolving several issues while taking a final impression of a patient with a mobile or displaceable anterior maxillary ridge, also referred to as a flabby ridge. This kind of ridge is particularly problematic due to the underlying tissues lacking strength and resilience, making it challenging to achieve a solid and comfortable denture fit. This typically exacerbates the problem, as conventional pressure during impression-making induces further displacement, which reduces the impression's precision.
