Mycobacterium abscessus infections tend to respond poorly to macrolide-based chemotherapy, even though the organisms appear to be susceptible to clarithromycin. Circumstantial evidence suggested that at least some M. abscessus isolates might be inducibly resistant to macrolides. Thus, the purpose of this study was to investigate the macrolide phenotype of M. abscessus clinical isolates. Inducible resistance to clarithromycin (MIC > 32 microg/ml) was found for 7 of 10 clinical isolates of M. abscessus previously considered susceptible; the remaining 3 isolates were deemed to be susceptible (MIC

Purpose: To describe a rare case of infectious keratitis secondary to Brevundimonas diminuta, a gram-negative bacillus with fluoroquinolone resistance and rare clinical isolation.

Methods: A 50-year-old man with contact lens overuse presented with a large corneal ulcer and hand motion visual acuity. Initial treatment with fortified topical tobramycin and vancomycin yielded slow improvement, and initial culture grew Staphylococcus epidermidis, Staphylococcus hominis, and Corynebacterium bovis.

"Biliary-cast syndrome" ("BCS") is most often encountered in clinical practice as a complication after liver transplantation, there are also described cases of biliary-cast syndrome in patients who did not undergo liver transplantation, isolated cases of "BCS" developing in patients with acute pancreatitis, choledocholithiasis are described in literature. Ischemic damage to bile duct epithelium with development of cholestasis and retrograde biliary tract infection are considered as the main etiological factors. This work presents a clinical case of "Biliary-cast syndrome" in a patient with acute biliary pancreatitis and pulmonary embolism.

The rise in antimicrobial resistance poses a significant threat to global health, particularly among diabetic patients who are prone to urinary tract infections (UTIs). Pathogens that cause UTI among diabetic patients exhibit significant multidrug resistance (MDR) patterns, necessitating more precise empirical treatment strategies..

Objective: To compare the salivary profiles of smokers (e-cigarette smokers, e-cigarette and former conventional cigarette smokers, dual users, and conventional cigarette smokers) and non-smokers in adolescents, focusing on acidity level, flow rate, viscosity, as well as the quantity of Streptococcus mutans, Porphyromonas gingivalis, and Candida albicans.

Methods: This analytical observational study, with a cross-sectional design, involves collecting saliva samples from five groups through the draining method. Saliva viscosity was assessed visually, while saliva flow rate was monitored over a ten-minute period.
