A new and fast method to determine acidity constants of monoprotic weak acids and bases by capillary zone electrophoresis based on the use of an internal standard (compound of similar nature and acidity constant as the analyte) has been developed. This method requires only two electrophoretic runs for the determination of an acidity constant: a first one at a pH where both analyte and internal standard are totally ionized, and a second one at another pH where both are partially ionized. Furthermore, the method is not pH dependent, so an accurate measure of the pH of the buffer solutions is not needed. The acidity constants of several phenols and amines have been measured using internal standards of known pK(a), obtaining a mean deviation of 0.05 pH units compared to the literature values.

Insulin bound with ligand molecules can improve its bioavailability in oral formulations. In this work, the interactions between insulin and bile acids of taurocholic acid (TCA) and glycocholic acid (GCA) are characterized using different mass spectrometry (MS) methods. Electrospray (ESI)-MS analysis revealed that GCA and TCA could interact with insulin individually or together through non-covalent bonds, and the products included mGCA-insulin, nTCA-insulin, and mGCA-nTCA-insulin complexes.

Luminescent chiral metal-organic frameworks (CMOFs) are promising candidates for the enantioselective sensing of important chiral molecules. Herein, we report the synthesis and characterization of Zn and Cd CMOFs based on 1,1'-bi-2-naphthol (BINOL)-derived 3,3',6,6'-tetra(benzoic acids), H-OEt and H-OH. Four CMOFs, -OEt, -OH, -OEt, and -OH, based on these ligands were crystallographically characterized.

Electrochemical oxidative cross-dehydrogenative-coupling (CDC) is an ideal strategy to conduct the C3-alkoxylation of imidazo[1,2-]pyridine, but it remains a challenge owing to limitation imposed by the use of alkyl alcohols and carboxylic acids. Herein, we report a mild and efficient 2-electrode constant-potential electrolysis of imidazo[1,2-]pyridine with hexafluoroisopropanol (HFIP) to produce various imidazo[1,2-]pyridine HFIP ethers. Mechanistic studies indicated that the electrooxidation reaction might involve radical coupling and ionic reaction.

A set of coumarin-3-carboxamide analogues were designed, synthesized, and evaluated for their ability to impede pancreatic lipase (PL) activity. Out of all the analogues, 5dh and 5de demonstrated promising inhibitory activity against PL, as indicated by their respective IC values of 9.20 and 11.

This study investigated the regenerability of anion exchange resins for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), focusing on the interaction between regenerant composition and resin characteristics. The influence of salt type and concentration on PFAS solubility revealed a general decline in perfluorohexane sulfonate (PFHxS) solubility with increased salt concentrations, most strongly with KCl followed by NaCl and NHCl. Mixed solubility results were observed for perfluorooctanoate (PFOA) and perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS).
