Published: September 2008

Objective: To compare difference in character between wild germplasm and cultivar of Rehmannia glutinosa Libosch.

Method: Field test and statistical analysis were applied.

Result: The results showed that the plant height and leave weight of individual plant in cultivar were decreased significantly comparing to wild germplasm, and the output was increased significantly. The leave length was reduced. The leave width, the catalpol content in leave and polysaccharides and reducing sugar content in cultivar was increased not significantly. Whereas the catalpol content and the water extract content in cultivar were equal to wild germplasm.

Conclusion: The plant height and leave weight of individual plant of R. glutinosa was decreased significantly in cultivar, but the active compounds content not changed obviously.

Nitrogen (N) is a major plant nutrient and its deficiency can arrest plant growth. However, how low-N stress impair plant growth and its related tolerance mechanisms in peanut seedlings has not yet been explored. To counteract this issue, a hydroponic study was conducted to explore low N stress (0.

Integrative Science Center of Germplasm Creation in Western China (CHONGQING) Science City, Biological Science Research Center, Southwest University, Chongqing, China.

Respiration is a vital process essential for organism survival, with most terrestrial insects relying on a sophisticated tubular tracheal network. In the current study, a gene with repetitive sequence was identified within the silkworm genome. Designated as BmMuc91C, it contains a dozen repeated motifs "PSSSYGAPX" and "GGYSSGGX" in its sequence.

The present study explores the microbial community associated with the industrially important red seaweed Gracilaria dura to determine the diversity and biotechnological potential through culture and metagenomics approaches. In the first part of the investigation, we isolated and characterized 75 bacterial morphotypes, with varied colony characteristics and metabolic diversity from the wild seaweed. Phylogenetic analysis identified isolates in Proteobacteria, Firmicutes, and Actinobacteria, with Bacillus sp.

Institute of Pomology, Jiangsu Key Laboratory for Horticultural Crop Genetic Improvement, Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Nanjing, Jiangsu 210014, China.

Strawberries are valued for their aroma, which is mainly determined by volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Wild strawberries, with broader and more intense VOC profiles, are especially important in breeding programs. Using HS-SPME-GC-MS, 126 VOCs were identified in the ripe fruit of 22 cultivars from four wild strawberry species.
