Objectives: The aim of the Pre-Al study is to evaluate and compare the predictive value of different tools for an early identification of Alzheimer's disease.
Design And Participants: Patients coming for consultation to memory clinics without dementia were included if they had an objective memory or attention trouble assessed by a MMSE score > 25 (with at least one missing item at the words recall) and / or an Isaac set test score < 28. All were examined by a neuropsychological battery (Free and Cued Selective Reminding Test, digit ordering test, WAIS-R digit symbol, Trail making test, Benton visual retention test, verbal fluency, confrontation naming and Baddeley's double task test). A subpopulation received an MRI and SPECT assessment.
Results And Discussion: 251 patients were included (mean age: 72.0 years; mean education duration: 10.9 years). Validation of the predictive tests will be based on the comparison of these tests in patients developing dementia and others, after a follow-up of at least 3 years. This paper presents methodology of the study and the population description.

Phosphorus recovery from waste activated sludge (WAS) is expected to alleviate the shortage of phosphate rock and reduce eutrophication. In this study, acid, alkali and sodium polyacrylate (PAAS) were compared to enhance phosphorus release and recovery from WAS. During anaerobic fermentation (AF) stage, the optimal pretreated conditions for ortho-phosphate release were the pH of 4 (AF 12 h), 13 (AF 12 h) and 22.

A study is carried out on the effect of different surface native pre-oxides on hot corrosion of single crystal nickel-based superalloy at 900 °C. The effect of different oxides formed by different superalloys through pre-oxidation on hot corrosion is verified by normal hot corrosion and tube sealing experiments. The relationship between different surface oxides and the effect of different surface oxides layer on the hot corrosion properties of alloys are studied.

The possible health impact of the exposures to Al from environment would be inevitable for humans. Using chelating agents and natural antioxidants against Al-induced biotoxicity become a natural and modern way to prevent the adverse effects of Al in people. This study was undertaken to determine the effectiveness of chlorogenic acid (CGA, 5-O-caffeoylquinic acid) in preventing aluminum chloride (AlCl) induced hepatotoxicity and hematotoxicity in mice.

Unlabelled: OBJECTIVES. To understand how "cumulative inequality" (CI), expressed as individual advantage and choice, and "external social supports" contribute to the quality of social relationships and perceptions of staff assistance for older individuals in different assisted living (AL) settings.
Methods: Data are from 429 cognitively intact AL residents aged 60 years and older interviewed for the Florida Study of Assisted Living.
