Glutathione transferases, GSTs, are detoxification proteins that are found in most organisms. The acGSTE3-3 had the ability to conjugate 4-hydroxynonenal, a cytotoxic lipid peroxidation product. Although other Epsilon GSTs showed roles in insecticide metabolism, the acGSTE3-3 appeared to have a major role in detoxifying lipid peroxidation products conferring protection against oxidative damage.

With the aid of radical and non-radical reactive species (RS), advanced oxidation processes can efficiently degrade emerging organic contaminants including antibiotics but may generate toxic transformation products (TPs). However, the detoxification capacity of popular RS has not been well elucidated. This study compared the detoxification of enrofloxacin (ENR) with three RS-dominated systems: O, SO+OH, OH.

Introduction: Osteoarthritis (OA) is a chronic degenerative joint disorder characterized by an imbalance in chondrocyte metabolism. Ferroptosis has been implicated in the pathogenesis of OA. The role of Sirt1, a deacetylase, in mediating deacetylation during ferroptosis in OA chondrocytes remains underexplored.

The interplay between ribosomal protein (RP) composition and mitochondrial function is essential for energy homeostasis. Balanced RP production optimizes protein synthesis while minimizing energy costs, but its impact on mitochondrial functionality remains unclear. Here, we investigated haploinsufficiency for RP genes (rps-10, rpl-5, rpl-33, and rps-23) in Caenorhabditis elegans and corresponding reductions in human lymphoblast cells.

Objective: Obesity has become one of the major public health issues and is associated with various comorbidities, including type 2 diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia, and hypertension. Lychee seeds are considered promising ingredients for developing functional foods owing to their nutraceutical properties and phytochemical composition. This study aimed to induce obesity in zebrafish () through a hyperlipidic diet supplemented with different concentrations of lychee seed flour and to evaluate its effects on adipose tissue, biochemical parameters, oxidative stress, and caudal fin regeneration.

Nonylphenol (NP) is a ubiquitous environmental endocrine disrupting chemical and oxidative stress inducer in biological systems. Resveratrol (RES) and Naringenin (NG) are phytochemicals possessing antioxidant properties and estrogenic activity. This study was conducted to investigate the toxicity of NP and the mitigating effects of RES and NG on NP toxicity in rats.
