Unlabelled: In this review, we focus on how purple non-sulfur bacteria can be leveraged for sustainable bioproduction to support the circular economy. We discuss the state of the field with respect to the use of purple bacteria for energy production, their role in wastewater treatment, as a fertilizer, and as a chassis for bioplastic production. We explore their ability to serve as single-cell protein and production platforms for fine chemicals from waste materials.

Drug repurposing is preferred over de-novo drug discovery to unveil the therapeutic applications of existing drug candidates before investing considerable resources in unexplored novel chemical entities. This study demonstrated multifaceted stratagems to reconnoiter promising repurposable candidates against Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC) by amalgamating Real-World-Data (RWD) with bioinformatics algorithms corroborated with and studies. At the outset, the RWD from the Food and Drug Administration Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) was explored to navigate signals to retrieve repurposable drugs that are inversely associated with HCC via Disproportionality Analysis.

PET analysis is conventionally performed as a two-stage process of quantification followed by analysis. We recently introduced SiMBA (Simultaneous Multifactor Bayesian Analysis), a hierarchical model that performs quantification and analysis for all brain regions of all individuals at once, and in so doing improves both the accuracy of parameter estimation as well as inferential efficiency. However until now, SiMBA has only been implemented for the two-tissue compartment model.

Pyrenoids are algal CO-fixing organelles that mediate approximately one-third of global carbon fixation and hold the potential to enhance crop growth if engineered into land plants. Most pyrenoids are traversed by membranes that are thought to supply them with concentrated CO. Despite the critical nature of these membranes for pyrenoid function, they are poorly understood, with few protein components known in any species.

Microbial rhodopsins are prevalent in many cyanobacterial groups as a light-energy-harvesting system in addition to the photosynthetic system. It has been suggested that this dual system allows efficient capture of sunlight energy using complementary ranges of absorption wavelengths. However, the diversity of cyanobacterial rhodopsins, particularly in accumulated metagenomic data, remains underexplored.
