Autism spectrum disorder is a neurodevelopmental condition with unique characteristics of perception and neurocognition that begins in childhood and persists into adulthood. It significantly affects social integration and adaptation, and is a great challenge in terms of psychological coping. Intensive genetic and neurobiological research is focused at understanding the brain underpinnings of autism, and it is also at the forefront of pharmacological development.

Testicular cryopreservation has been highlighted as a promising alternative for preserving male fertility and can be applied to restore spermatogenesis in prepubertal individuals or cancer patients, preserve biologically valuable genotypes, and in studies on reproductive physiology or toxicity of various substances. This review presents an analysis of the technical aspects and applications of testicular cryopreservation, examining the contributions of important studies in this area and discussing the different factors that can impact the efficiency of the technique. Testicular fragments can be obtained from living or dead individuals, at any age and reproductive stage, through orchiectomy or biopsy.

The intestinal mucosal layer is a key defense mechanism against ingested MPs, preventing the migration of particles to other parts of the body. MP migration through intestinal mucus is challenging to study due to difficulties in obtaining intact mucus layers for testing and numerous formulations, shapes, and sizes of microplastics.
