Cytogenetic data are presented for 12 ovarian, three endometrial, and one fallopian tube tumors. In 15 of these, primary tumors were analyzed and in one ascites was studied. All specimens were obtained at the time of diagnostic surgery. Trisomy for chromosome 7 was detected in three ovarian and one endometrial tumors. In one case, trisomy 7 was the sole cytogenetic abnormality detected. Three of the four patients with trisomy 7 had early stages of adenocarcinoma. The data suggest that numerical chromosome abnormalities may be common in borderline and in less aggressive gynecologic tumors.

We build and study an individual based model of the telomere length's evolution in a population across multiple generations. This model is a continuous time typed branching process, where the type of an individual includes its gamete mean telomere length and its age. We study its Malthusian's behaviour and provide numerical simulations to understand the influence of biologically relevant parameters.

Background: Pouchitis is common among patients with ulcerative colitis (UC) who have had colectomy with ileal pouch-anal anastomosis. Antibiotics are first-line therapy for pouch inflammation, increasing the potential for gut colonization with multi-drug resistant organisms (MDRO). Fecal microbial transplant (FMT) is being studied in the treatment of pouchitis and in the eradication of MDRO.

Three-spotted seahorse (Hippocampi trimaculata) is a unique fish with important economic and medicinal values, and its total chromosome number is potentially quite different from other seahorse species. Herein, we constructed a chromosome-level genome assembly for this special seahorse by integration of MGI short-read, PacBio HiFi long-read and Hi-C sequencing techniques. A 416.

Nucleosomes are fundamental units of chromatin in which a length of genomic DNA is wrapped around a histone octamer spool in a left-handed superhelix. Large-scale nucleosome maps show a wide distribution of DNA wrapping lengths, which in some cases are tens of base pairs (bp) shorter than the 147 bp canonical wrapping length observed in nucleosome crystal structures. Here, we develop a thermodynamic model that assumes a constant free energy cost of unwrapping a nucleosomal bp.

Background: Cell-free DNA (cfDNA) sequence analysis to screen for fetal aneuploidy can incidentally detect maternal cancer. Additional data are needed to identify DNA-sequencing patterns and other biomarkers that can identify pregnant persons who are most likely to have cancer and to determine the best approach for follow-up.
Methods: In this ongoing study we performed cancer screening in pregnant or postpartum persons who did not perceive signs or symptoms of cancer but received unusual clinical cfDNA-sequencing results or results that were nonreportable (i.
