Purpose: This paper aims to delve into the critical aspect of supplier selection in the healthcare sector, emphasizing the significance of strategic sourcing in enhancing operational efficiency and quality of services. The primary aim is to develop a comprehensive framework for supplier evaluation that aligns with the unique requirements of hospitals, ultimately improving procurement processes and patient care outcomes.
Design/methodology/approach: The study leverages the renowned Carter's 7 C model as a foundational framework for supplier assessment, supplemented by insights gathered from interviews with experts in the New Product Introduction, Purchasing and Procurement departments of a leading hospital in India.

Low-and middle-income countries (LMICs) account for a significant proportion of the burden of disease for communicable illnesses globally; with malaria, tuberculosis (TB), and HIV/AIDS being the leading causes of death. Despite this disparity, LMICs often have limited or delayed access to newer optimal health products compared to high-income countries (HICs). This limitation in access, driven by a myriad of barriers, undermines the potential health benefits that could be gained in LMICs through the introduction of better health products.

This research explores consumer preferences and emotional reactions to beverages made from roasted barley and examines the possibility of launching a new product line featuring Streaker barley grown in the Pacific Northwest. Utilizing hedonic scales, just-about-right scales, and check-all-that-apply questions, a sensory evaluation was conducted. The study reveals two distinct consumer clusters, each exhibiting contrasting preferences and responses to novel beverages incorporating Streaker barley.

The traditional apprenticeship model of "see one, do one, teach one" is no longer considered the most effective approach for training surgical trainees. Key factors such as patient safety, increasing trainee numbers, and clinician workload pose significant challenges to surgical training. These pressures have led to the adoption of simulation-based education as an effective adjunct to clinical experience when training future surgeons.
