Background: Debates persist regarding the optimal duration of dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in coronary artery disease (CAD). Recent trials have introduced a novel approach involving P2Y12 inhibitor monotherapy with ticagrelor or clopidogrel, after a short DAPT. However, the effectiveness and safety of this strategy remains to be established.

Introduction: Pregnancy is a known independent risk factor for a severe course of COVID-19. The relationship of SARS-CoV-2 infection and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) on neonatal outcomes is unclear. Our aim was to determine if SARS-CoV-2 infection represents an independent risk factor for adverse perinatal outcomes in pregnancy with GDM.

Article Synopsis
  • Pregnant women with COVID-19 face higher risks of severe complications, especially those with multiple pregnancies due to physical changes in lung function caused by the growing fetus.
  • A study analyzed outcomes in 5514 women with symptomatic COVID-19 during pregnancy, focusing on the difference between those with multiple pregnancies and those with singletons.
  • Results showed that while the overall incidence of adverse outcomes was similar, multiple pregnancies had earlier onset of complications and certain factors like high preconceptional BMI significantly increased risks.

Background: Using data from the German CRONOS registry, we assessed the risk of a complicated course of COVID-19 in women with a SARS-CoV-2-infection during pregnancy, with particular consideration of gestational age, vaccination status, and pandemic dynamics.

Methods: Data acquired in two separate periods (March 2020 to August 2021; January to June 2022) for CRONOS, a prospective, hospital-based observational study (DRKS00021208), were studied with logistic regression models. Odds ratios comparing 32 with 22 weeks of gestation were calculated for relevant COVID-19-specific events occurring within 4 weeks of a positive test result.

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is mainly a disease of fertile women and the coexistence of pregnancy is by no means a rare event. How SLE and its treatment affect pregnancy outcomes is still a matter of debate. We performed a retrospective analysis of 41 SLE patients (55 pregnancies) who were followed at our university hospital from January 2000 to December 2009.
