Prediction of proteins and associated biological pathways from lipid analyses via MALDI MSI is a pressing challenge. We introduced "dry proteomics," using MALDI MSI to validate spatial localization of identified optimal clusters in lipid imaging. Consistent cluster appearance across omics images suggests association with specific lipid and protein in distinct biological pathways, forming the basis of dry proteomics.

Total resection of glioblastoma (GB) tumors is nearly impossible, and systemic administration of temozolomide (TMZ) is often inadequate. This study presents a hybrid layered composite nanofiber mesh (LHN) designed for localized treatment in GB tumor bed. The LHN, consisting of polyvinyl alcohol and core-shell polylactic acid layers, was loaded with TMZ and rutin.

Article Synopsis
  • Medulloblastoma, the most common malignant brain tumor in children, has distinct subgroups, including WNT-driven and SHH-driven types, and this study focuses on the small molecule MAGMAS inhibitor, BT9, previously shown to impact adult glioblastoma.
  • The research involved treating human medulloblastoma cell lines (DAOY and D425) with BT9 and assessing effects on cell proliferation, death, migration, invasion, and metabolic activity through various assays.
  • While BT9 significantly reduced cell proliferation and increased death in vitro, it did not improve survival in an in vivo mouse model, indicating potential antitumor effects but limited efficacy in living organisms.

Article Synopsis
  • This report highlights the case of a male patient who developed a second glioblastoma 32 years after being treated for medulloblastoma, emphasizing the treatment process and relevant literature.
  • The patient underwent successful surgery and was treated with proton beam therapy and Temozolomide, resulting in a complete response after his radiation-induced glioblastoma was diagnosed.
  • The discussion includes the importance of molecular profiling in managing second primary tumors like RIGB and underscores the advantages of proton beam therapy for protecting healthy tissue during high-dose treatment.
