An adolescent boy with newly diagnosed T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia developed right eye and facial pain, and a 1 cm × 2 cm area of black eschar over his hard palate. Initial differential diagnosis included rhinocerebral mucormycosis and aspergillosis, and he was started on liposomal amphotericin B. Later, he underwent nine surgical debridements of his sinus cavities, resection of a third of his palate and right orbital exenteration.

Purpose: To analyse the clinical and microbiological characteristics and preexisting ophthalmic and systemic conditions of infectious keratitis resulting in enucleation/evisceration in a large tertiary referral center in a developed country (Hungary) over a period of 12 years. . A retrospective review of enucleated/eviscerated eyes undergoing surgery between 2007 and 2018 at the Department of Ophthalmology of Semmelweis University, Budapest, Hungary, with infectious keratitis as the primary indication for enucleation or evisceration.

Objective: species are abundant, generally saprophytic, and widely distributed in the environment. On rare occasions, they cause endophthalmitis in immunocompromised patients or in immunocompetent patients with uncontrolled diabetic mellitus or immunosuppressive agents. We report a case of endophthalmitis caused by species in an immunocompetent patient without any disorders.

Unlabelled: An 85-year-old man developed chronic postoperative endophthalmitis after complicated cataract surgery. Visual acuity in the affected eye was hand movements. Slitlamp biomicroscopy showed a hypopyon, superonasal iris nodule, and marked vitritis.

Background: Heroin and its contaminants may be an important source of allergens in young people. We present a case of severe endophthalmitis in a patient that also suffered from anaphylactoid symptoms (hypotension, urticaria, glottic oedema) whenever he ingested lemon.
Methods: Prick tests with a battery of 42 aeroallergens including fruits and citrus fruits (orange, mandarin, grapefruit and lemon) and specific IgE to these allergens were carried out.
