The molecular effect of domestication has rarely been examined in fungi. I examined the molecular signature of domestication on Aspergillus oryzae, a fungus used to ferment several Japanese food products. The ratio of nonsynonymous to synonymous substitutions and the percentage of estimated deleterious substitutions along the A. oryzae lineage were lower than those in the wild sister lineage Aspergillus flavus. The patterns of genetic change observed in human-mediated domestication of animals and plants might not be typical in domesticated fungi.

Equity is a cornerstone of global climate policy, yet differing perspectives mean that international agreement on how to allocate mitigation efforts remains elusive. A rich literature informs this question, but a gap remains in approaches that appropriately consider non-CO emissions and their warming contributions. In this study, we address this gap and define a global warming budget applicable to all anthropogenic greenhouse gases that is allocated to countries based on principles drawn from international treaties and environmental law.

In 2023, Indonesia's Ministry of Health reported that nearly 75% of districts and cities in the country were free from malaria transmission, meaning 90% of the population lived in malaria-free zones. However, Papua Province, which accounts for only 1.5% of Indonesia's population, continues to contribute over 90% of the national malaria cases, with more than 16,000 reported cases in 2023.

Background: Pneumocystis jirovecii colonization rates in healthy patients are unclear. Previously published studies suggest that the fungus could play a role in the physiopathology and progression of chronic respiratory diseases.
Aims: The goal of this study was to determine the prevalence of colonization by this fungus in the lower respiratory tract of immunocompetent patients who are not at risk of dysbiosis.

Clarithromycin, a common antibiotic found in domestic wastewater, persists even after treatment and can transfer to soils when treated wastewater (TWW) is used for irrigation. This residual antibiotic may exert selection pressure, promoting the spread of antibiotic resistance. While Predicted No Effect Concentrations (PNECs) are used in liquid media to predict resistance risks, PNEC values for soils, especially for clarithromycin, are lacking.

Nuclear factor Y (NF-Y) is an evolutionarily conserved heterotrimeric transcription factor in eukaryotes. In a previous study, OsNF-YB12 was confirmed to be associated with drought tolerance using the Ecotilling method. In this study, real-time quantitative RT-PCR revealed that OsNF-YB12 was induced by various abiotic stresses and phytohormones, with expression levels differing between leaves and roots.
