Objectives: To explore whether the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index and the triglyceride to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (TG/HDL-C) ratio are associated with the trajectories of depressive symptoms.

Methods: In this longitudinal study, 4215 participants aged 45 years and older were recruited from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study from 2011 to 2018. The trajectories of depressive symptoms, measured by the 10-item Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale (CESD-10), were identified using group-based trajectory modeling.

To understand how the health of older adults today compares to that of previous generations, we estimated intrinsic capacity and subdomains of cognitive, locomotor, sensory, psychological and vitality capacities in participants of the English Longitudinal Study of Ageing and the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study. Applying multilevel growth curve models, we found that more recent cohorts entered older ages with higher levels of capacity, while subsequent age-related declines were somewhat compressed compared to earlier cohorts. Trends were most evident for the cognitive, locomotor and vitality capacities.

Objectives: Socioeconomic differences in fruit and vegetable (F&V) consumption are recognized, but little is known about how these differences develop when moving from mid-life to older adulthood. We investigated the longitudinal changes in socioeconomic differences in F&V consumption in an ageing Finnish cohort, using occupational class as a measure of socioeconomic position. Additionally, we examined whether socioeconomic differences in F&V consumption changed over retirement transition.

Background: Serum creatinine (Cr)- and cystatin C (CysC)-based indices have been suggested as alternative markers for sarcopenia, but their predictive value for sarcopenia risk is uncertain, which was investigated in the present study in the Chinese population with the middle and older ages.

Methods: Data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) were collected in the 2011 and 2015 waves. All participants were free of sarcopenia at the baseline.
