Background: Compared with systemic therapy, hepatic arterial infusion (HAI) increases the response to fluoropyrimidines.

Methods: Thirty-one patients with non-resectable, colorectal cancer (CRC) liver metastases received irinotecan 120 mg/m(2), followed by leucovorin (LV) 20 mg/m(2) and 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) 500 mg/m(2) administered by HAI every 2 weeks, plus UFT (tegafur-uracil) 200 mg/m(2)/day with LV 30 mg/day on days 1-22, followed by a 6-day rest.

Results: The objective response rate was 65% (all 20 patients achieving a partial response). Ten patients (32%) had stable disease. The median time to progression (TTP) and overall survival (OS) were 12 and 36 months. OS was similar in patients with low versus high expression of thymidylate synthase (TS) and/or dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase (DPD). The regimen was well tolerated.

Conclusions: UFT with LV plus HAI irinotecan and 5-FU/LV was a feasible and effective treatment for non-resectable CRC liver metastases, increasing response, TTP and OS. TS and DPD levels in liver metastases did not predict outcome.

Histologic transformation from non-small cell to small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is a resistance mechanism to immune checkpoint inhibitors. We report herein a case of lung adenocarcinoma who developed liver and brain metastases during adjuvant atezolizumab therapy. The patient underwent a craniotomy to resect a brain metastasis, which was pathologically diagnosed as SCLC.

Aims: The hepatic perivascular epithelioid cell tumour (PEComa), including angiomyolipoma, exhibits diverse morphology and clinical behaviour; however, its prognostic features remain undefined. This study aimed to investigate its histological features and prognostic factors.

Methods And Results: In total, 132 patients were included.

Purpose: Long axial field-of-view (LAFOV) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) scanners enable high sensitivity and wide anatomical coverage. Therefore, they seem ideal to perform post-selective internal radiation therapy (SIRT) Y scans, which are needed, to confirm that the dose is delivered to the tumors and that healthy organs are spared. However, it is unclear to what extent the use of LAFOV PET is feasible and which dosimetry approaches results in accurate measurements.

Radiomics is a method that extracts many features from medical images using various algorithms. Medical nomograms are graphical representations of statistical predictive models that produce a likelihood of a clinical event for a specific individual based on biological and clinical data. The radiomic nomogram was first introduced in 2016 to study the integration of specific radiomic characteristics with clinically significant risk factors for patients with colorectal cancer lymph node metastases.

Ultrasound (US) is a widely used technique for liver disease but has limitations in distinguishing tumors. This study evaluates the clinical efficacy of fluctuational imaging (FLI), a new US method that detects the fluttering sign in liver tumors. We conducted a prospective exploratory study with 120 participants diagnosed with liver tumors through histopathology or standard imaging.
