Previous research has disagreed about whether a difficult cognitive skill is best learned by beginning with easy or difficult examples. Two experiments that clarify this debate are reported. Participants in both experiments received one of three types of training on a difficult perceptual categorization task. In one condition, participants began with easy examples, then moved to examples of intermediate difficulty, and finished with the most difficult examples. In a second condition, this order was reversed, and in a third condition, participants saw examples in a random order. The results depended on the type of categories that participants were learning. When the categories could be learned via explicit reasoning (a rule-based task), the three training procedures were equally effective. However, when the categorization rule was difficult to describe verbally (an information-integration task), participants who began with the most difficult items performed much better than participants in the other two conditions.

Onychomycosis is a common, difficult to treat nail disorder. Our objective was to explore disparities in current clinical management practices for onychomycosis in patients from underrepresented groups and with specific comorbidities. We conducted a cross-sectional study using the All of Us (AoU) research program.

Ciprofloxacin (CIP) is an extensively used broad-spectrum, fluoroquinolone antibiotic used for treating diverse bacterial infections. Effluent treatment plants (ETPs) worldwide lack technologies to detect or remediate antibiotics. CIP reaches the aquatic phase primarily due to inappropriate disposal practices, lack of point-of-use sensing, and preloaded activated charcoal filter at ETPs.

Fatigue accumulated during the practice of endurance running can be understood as the decrease in sports performance caused by physical exertion. Since fatigue can manifest itself in multiple ways, its influence is difficult to understand, and many authors propose different studies with the aim of obtaining firm conclusions. Thus, the aim of this systematic review was to analyze the effect of fatigue on the modification of biomechanical parameters to mitigate adverse effects and optimize positive adaptations to training.

With the rapid advancement of information technology, the need to achieve ultra-high-density data storage has become a pressing necessity. This study synthesized three hyperbranched polyimides (HBPI-TAPP, HBPI-(Zn)TAPP, and HBPI-(Cu)TAPP) by polymerizing 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(4-aminophenyl)porphyrin (TAPP), which features a cavity for metal ion coordination, with 4,4'-(hexafluoroisopropylidene)diphthalic anhydride (6FDA), to systematically investigate the effect of metal ion species on storage performance. According to the results, memory devices based on HBPI-(Zn)TAPP exhibit volatile SRAM (static random-access memory) characteristics, whereas devices employing HBPI-TAPP and HBPI-(Cu)TAPP demonstrate non-volatile WORM (write-once, read-many) characteristics.

Introduction: Health education, weight control and exercise therapy are recognised treatment options for the non-surgical management of knee osteoarthritis (KOA); however, the pain and muscle fatigue associated with exercise make it difficult for patients to initially adhere. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) massage is an important complementary and alternative therapy that can effectively address these deficiencies. According to TCM theory and preliminary clinical practice, loosening of the muscles while pointing to acupoints can promote the recovery of KOA.
