Aim: The aim of this study was to determine the relative frequency of orofacial tumors and tumor like lesions in Libyan children and adolescents, and compare our findings with reports in the literature.
Methods: A total of 213 cases of tumors and tumor like lesions were seen in patients aged 18 years and less during a period of 17 years.
Results: There were 8 cases (3.7%) of malignant tumors in our study, 35 cases (16.4%) of benign odontogenic tumors and 170 cases (89%) of benign tumors and tumor like lesions of orofacial region were seen in this study. orofacial tumors are not uncommon among the Libyan children and adolescents.
Conclusion: A slightly lower incidence of malignant tumors was observed as a result of the less number of cases of Burkitt's lymphoma, in comparison to other reports from Africa.

Antipsychotic medications are used to treat a psychological condition called 'Schizophrenia'. However, its long-term administration causes irregular involuntary motor movements, targeting the orofacial regions. Glycyrrhizic acid (GA) is a naturally occurring triterpene saponin glycoside obtained from the roots of the Glycyrrhiza glabra (liquorice) plant and well known for its antioxidant, antiapoptotic and neuroprotective abilities.

Tumor initiation represents the first step in tumorigenesis during which normal progenitor cells undergo cell fate transition to cancer. Capturing this process as it occurs in vivo, however, remains elusive. Here we employ spatiotemporally controlled oncogene activation and tumor suppressor inhibition together with multiomics to unveil the processes underlying oral epithelial progenitor cell reprogramming into tumor initiating cells at single cell resolution.

Small cell osteosarcoma (SCOS) is a rare variant of conventional osteosarcoma, characterized by tumor cells of small size and uniform morphology, which can lead to diagnostic confusion with other small cell tumors, requiring a detailed diagnostic approach. The manifestation in a child adds a degree of complexity, as the management of malignant tumours in paediatric patients requires specific considerations to minimize the long-term side effects of oncological treatment and preserve the structural and functional development of the orofacial region. This report concerns an 8-year-old female patient referred to the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery outpatient clinic with progressive swelling in the right maxillofacial region, initially asymptomatic, but progressing to pain and difficulty chewing.

Background: Dental implantation of bone reconstructions in oncologic situations improves patients' orofacial function and quality of life. There are currently no recommendations on the timing of implantation.
Methods: This systematic review with meta-analysis aimed to compare primary and secondary dental implantation of free bone flaps in reconstructions for malignant tumors of the oral cavity.
