The design of a circularly symmetric hybrid imaging system that exhibits high resolution as well as extended depth of field is presented. The design, which assumes spatially incoherent illumination, searches for an optimal "binary amplitude and phase" pupil mask, which for a certain desired depth of field, provides the largest spatial frequency band that assures a certain desired contrast value. The captured images are electronically processed by an off-line Wiener filter, to finally obtain high quality output images. Simulations as well as experimental results are provided.

FET biosensors are mainly made up of FET parts, such as channel materials, and bio parts, such as receptors. This Tutorial provides an in-depth exploration of FET biosensors for protein detection from the composition perspective and discusses the commercialization of point-of-care diagnostics of proteins based on FET biosensors.

This paper developed an efficient microbial activator formula and conducted an in-depth study on its efficacy and mechanism in promoting the degradation of petroleum hydrocarbons in oil-contaminated soil. A 60-day microbial remediation experiment conducted on oily soil revealed that the microbial activators significantly boosted the activities of dehydrogenase and catalase, subsequently speeding up the degradation of petroleum hydrocarbons in the soil. The overall degradation rate reached as high as 71.

The study investigated the enhancement of stability and efficacy in the removal of bivalent nickel ions (Ni(II)) by utilizing a cerium metal-organic framework (Ce-MOF) encapsulated within a food-grade algal matrix. This composite material is integrated into a dual-layer hydrogel containing chitosan and carboxymethyl cellulose. The enhancement of structural integrity in the final product can be attributed to the cross-linking process with epichlorohydrin, leading to the development of Ce-MOF-FGA/CMC-CS hydrogel beads.
